adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Our beautiful blonde Zara was rescued together with her three puppies from a kill shelter. The four beautiful female dogs came into our care and were initially very agitated. Zitrone and Zara were already able to leave. Tofu and Köbes are unfortunately still waiting for their people. Zara had a stroke of luck and was able to travel to her foster home in Reutlingen. There, she is developing extremely well and catching up on her life at a sprint 😀 Zara is a happy, uncomplicated, calm female dog who loves to be petted. She is totally social, very people-oriented, and does everything to please. Zara is already house-trained, gets along well with her fellow animals, whether male or female, and isn't particularly interested in cats when outside. She loves to go on sniffing walks in fields, forests, and meadows, but always keeps an eye on her primary caregiver and walks without pulling on the leash. Zara likes to lie in the garden and enjoys the grass, the sun, the peace, and the freedom. When it comes to strangers, she has no touch sensitivities and will let anyone pet her. Only "wild" playing children or dogs that hop or rush up to her make her a bit uncomfortable. Therefore, she hides behind her primary caregiver. So, children in the household should be older and more calm. Zara would be an ideal office dog. She loves to be there, can also be left alone sometimes, and always behaves quietly and unobtrusively. Zara is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has her EU pet passport, and many thanks to Nicole R. for naming her! As of 06.06.

Vielen Dank Nicole R.! Du hast Zara ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 06.06.2026 Danke an den Fotografen Volker Braun für die Bilder vom Bark Date

About Zara

What life with Zara looks like

Zara is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
