adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Zausel can stay forever in your foster home! Your story: And the next colorful litter of puppies is waiting for a home! Siren, Meiky, Magos, Zausel, Zaina, and Maliboo were named by us. Our animal welfare workers noticed the little family. They were living with an older man in his courtyard. He was not ready to give up the mother of the puppies – but he gave the puppies into our care. The mother was spayed at our expense and returned to her family. The sextet now lives in Fantanele, in a private shelter. Here, the conditions are not beautiful, and there are only outdoor runs. But they are safe and have the chance for a happy puppy life. Zausel is about 3.5 months old and will likely grow to be medium-sized. She shows herself as curious, playful, and friendly on site. A bundle of energy – just as befits her age. Overall, all six puppies are described as charming. They get along well with other dogs, but they haven't had any contact with cats. Guardian or herding dog genes cannot be completely ruled out. Zausel is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of her and will show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. One or two mishaps shouldn't be held against her, and Zausel should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with nature walks, lots of snuggling, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" often what they have learned so far, and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent – but loving – in training. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Our Zausel is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings her EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive bath and fur check. Then Zausel is the right one for you! Many thanks to Gerlinde Sch..! Your sponsorship was the starting gun for a new life! As of: 24.02.

Stand: 24.02.2025

About Zausel

What life with Zausel looks like

Zausel is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zausel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zausel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zausel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zausel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zausel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zausel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zausel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
