Zella

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Zella, a 2-year-old cat, was brought to us by a caretaker who had been feeding her in his garden. She was previously caught during a city sterilization campaign, but before the procedure, she developed severe complications, including respiratory failure and severe tissue swelling. 💔 The doctors managed to stabilize her, but surgery was not an option at the time. The caretaker could not release her back into the wild. He knew that would mean more pregnancies - Zella had already given birth to three litters 😢. He took her home and cared for her as best he could. Unfortunately, his financial resources soon ran out, and the cat required further diagnostics and veterinary care. That's when he asked for our help 🤍. After being admitted to the Foundation, we started full prophylaxis and tests. Zella was dewormed, and we performed FIV and FeLV tests - both negative - as well as blood tests, which fortunately did not show any abnormalities 🩺. Due to previous anesthesia problems, it was also necessary to perform an echocardiogram before the planned castration. This test was crucial - we had to be absolutely sure that the procedure would be safe for her. The echocardiogram showed no contraindications, so we could proceed with the sterilization ✂️. The operation was smooth and without complications. Today, Zella has already been castrated, vaccinated, dewormed, with current tests and negative tests - from a medical point of view, we have stabilization and great relief. After the quarantine, Zella moved to one of the cat rooms. She is not a typical wild cat and is definitely not suitable for returning to her place of residence. She can be stroked, purrs, and can be picked up and hugged 🐈. At the same time, in strong stress, she can defend herself - scratch or try to bite. This is a cat that really needs peace, patience, and time to trust a human and feel safe. Zella stays under our care, and we will try to find her a real home ✨. We believe that with the right caregivers - understanding, calm, ready to give her space to adapt - she can build a beautiful relationship with a human. Today, we ask for your support for Zella: pl/zella-fpk. Diagnostics, echocardiogram, castration surgery, hospitalization, vaccinations, and medications are real, high costs that the Foundation has incurred to give her a safe future 💸. Every contribution helps us save more stories like Zella's - cats that can no longer return to their gardens, but still have a chance to live in a home. We will be grateful for your support and sharing the collection 🙏🏻

Wcześniej została odłowiona w ramach miejskiej akcji sterylizacji, jednak jeszcze przed zabiegiem doszło do bardzo poważnych komplikacji – niewydolności oddechowej i silnego obrzęku tkanek 💔. Operacja przebiegła spokojnie i bez komplikacji. Dziś prosimy Was o wsparcie dla Zelli: pl/zella-fpk . Diagnostyka, echo serca, zabieg kastracji, hospitalizacja, szczepienia i leki to realne, wysokie koszty, które Fundacja poniosła, by dać jej bezpieczną przyszłość 💸.

About Zella

What life with Zella looks like

Zella is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at PrzytulKota in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adopters usually cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PrzytulKota handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PrzytulKota will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PrzytulKota early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
