Adopt Zephi

Beagle · Female · Young · 3 years

Zephi came to us from a breeder to find her forever home and is the sweetest girl. When she first arrived, she was very overwhelmed and worried, but she has settled in beautifully and has truly come out of her shell. She is now bursting with energy and absolutely adores people, especially those she knows. She will happily bounce over to say hello and enjoy plenty of fuss and attention, which is adorable. She is also a real foodie, and treats are definitely the way to her heart. Zephi is an active and lively dog who will need a home that can keep her both mentally and physically stimulated. She walks well on a lead and harness and has been building her confidence when out and about. She will enjoy going on adventures with her new family. Although, she can pull on the lead due to her enthusiasm so this will need to be worked on in her new home. Zephi has spent some time in a home previously and was doing well, including with her toilet training. However, she was returned after having a few squabbles with the resident dog over toys. She can guard toys, so her adopters will need experience in managing this behaviour and will need to carefully manage her environment by limiting access to toys when another dog is present. Zephi is now confident enough that she could be homed as an only dog in the right circumstances and with adopters who have plenty of time to spend with her. She could also be homed with a confident, kind, and playful resident dog who can match her energy levels. Zephi is looking for an adult-only home with adopters who are breed experienced and have experience owning a rescue dog. She has not had a typical start to home life, so she will need a patient, understanding family who can continue to guide her as she learns and settles. She can jump very high, so she will require a secure garden with solid fencing of at least 6ft that she cannot climb. She can be quite the escape artist, so it's vital that her home is very secure and her adopters will be very conscious of her safety. Zephi is truly wonderful, and whoever adopts her will absolutely adore her. She will bring so much fun, energy, and laughter into her forever home. Zephi has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Zephi

What life with Zephi looks like

Zephi is a medium-sized young adult beagle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Resource guarding behavior with toys, requires 6ft secure fencing due to jumping ability

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zephi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zephi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zephi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zephi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zephi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zephi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zephi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
