Zero

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

New from Zero Zero Breed: mixed breed Size: approx. 35 cm Born: January 2018 Gender: male neutered Living place: Debrecen (Hungary) with dogs? compatible with cats? unknown house-trained? no Involvement: 450,- Euro Zero is a sweet, charming mixed breed born in January 2018, measuring approximately 35 cm in size. He was found in the forest and although he had a chip, he was not registered. It turned out that Zero came from further away and was sold a few years ago, but no one could remember to whom he was sold. Zero is a friendly dog with a nice character. He loves people very much and is very friendly and cuddly. Zero enjoys the attention and affection that he receives. Thanks to his good leash manners, he is perfect for walking. His activity level is more on the quiet and balanced side, making him a pleasant companion. He is compatible with other dogs and is friendly with children. His compatibility with cats is unknown, but we are happy to test this if needed. Unfortunately, Zero tested positive for Dirofilaria Immitis (heartworm). This condition is however curable, and we have immediately begun treatment. The treatment must continue in his new home. Zero requires Advocate, a spot-on preparation costing about 15 Euro, to be dropped into his neck every four weeks. After about a year, he should be retested to ensure the treatment was successful. Please also inform yourself at your veterinarian. For Zero, we are looking for a loving, consistent, and quiet home. An enclosed garden would be advantageous, but is not necessary. Zeros future family should be prepared to go through "thick and thin" with him. You can find this application form on our homepage www.tierschutz-pfote.de, always in the respective ad of the dog, and can fill it out online.

About Zero

What life with Zero looks like

Zero is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. in Lohmar.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz-Pfote e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
