Zeus und Daisy

Unknown

Zeus und Daisy came originally from poor husbandry. The fur is super maintenance intensive and needs to be brushed and clipped regularly. This was one of the reasons why they came to us tangled and matted. And to make matters worse, both then developed dental issues. Zeus had his incisors removed, so they no longer cause him any problems, while Daisy arrived with a missing incisor. However, to our amazement, she has no trouble using her lower teeth with one upper tooth to chew evenly and properly. This means, of course, that they do not have a free pass, and their teeth should still be checked regularly (every 3-6 months) by a qualified veterinarian. The two are really nice rabbits, but they can be a bit shy and need time to build trust. Zeus und Daisy love movement, they like to run and jump around in their enclosure. If you are interested or have any questions, you can always contact us.

DE·Show original

About Zeus und Daisy

What life with Zeus und Daisy looks like

Zeus und Daisy is a adult rabbit waiting at Kolner Tierschutzverein in Köln.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zeus und Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zeus und Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kolner Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zeus und Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zeus und Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kolner Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zeus und Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zeus und Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kolner Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zeus und Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
