Adopt Zhemi

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

♀, born around 2013, is a lovable senior female dog in Spain, Zhemi is a mixed-breed female dog born around 2013 with a shoulder height of around 45-50 cm. Zhemi has been at the animal shelter in Argentona, Spain, since the end of October 2018. She has been eagerly waiting for a loving home and a comfortable dog bed to finally live in security and well-being, which is what she so desperately desires after such a long period of deprivation and stay at the animal shelter. Zhemi lived on the streets with a homeless person for many years. She is a bit anxious and suspicious. She is friendly towards people. Although Zhemi is not the youngest, she still has enough joy and energy to explore the world with her people. She does not belong to the old iron yet, but she would be very happy to have a comfortable dog bed or sofa, which she has had to do without for so long, and she has probably never had before. She also has a lot of fun and interest in shared activities with her people. The friendly, lovable female dog is now searching for engaged people who will actively integrate her into their daily lives, where she can finally receive the affection and care she has been lacking. Zhemi is compatible with fellow animals of either gender, preferably of a similar age and size. She generally shows social and problem-free interactions with fellow animals. Zhemi would also be very happy with a home where she does not have to share with other dogs. For Zhemi, a loving home with active people who enjoy shared activities with her and have plenty of time for her is sought. A quiet rural home and environment would be desirable for Zhemi, preferably with a secure garden. Children should not be in Zhemis future home, as she does not feel comfortable with them and has not had good experiences with them. Cats and/or small animals should also not be in her future home. Zhemi will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for Mediterranean diseases. She is located at a nearby animal shelter in Barcelona, Spain. The adoption fee for Zhemi is 360 Euros. About Zhemi

What life with Zhemi looks like

Zhemi is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zhemi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zhemi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zhemi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zhemi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zhemi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zhemi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zhemi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
