adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Zita has found her home! Her story: Life on the streets is hard, especially when you also have to protect a baby. Zita probably hoped that the company grounds, where she was found, would be safe for her and her puppy. However, the people there thought differently and called the dog catchers, who caught Zita and her girl and brought them to the public shelter in Bistrita. There, the two female dogs suffered greatly under the conditions. Luckily, they had the great chance to be transferred to our Stray Nest. They are now waiting in Rennertshofen for your visit to start their new life fully. Zita is simply a loving and open female dog who is more reserved and always polite. A true treasure! What immediately caught our attention about Zita was and is her openness towards humans. She is the cuteness in dog form, actively seeks human proximity, and even allows direct petting. We were allowed to examine her daughter Tessy under her watchful almond-shaped eyes, and she gave us the feeling that she trusted us. This beautiful female dog, whose name means "the happy one" or "the blessed one," is simply a treasure. Zita has a shoulder height of about 50 cm and is a medium-sized and slender female dog weighing around 20 kg. Her light fur with dark spots here and there feels incredibly fluffy and soft. With her expressive, warm eyes in her loving face, Zita seeks contact with us. This loving soul deserves a family where she is integrated as a family member and spoiled from head to toe. Zita is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has her own EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive match. Who would give their heart to this wonderful dream dog Zita? We are deeply grateful, Isabell, for taking over the nametag for Zita. With the lively name Zita, you have given the dear mouse an identity and increased her chance at a happy dog life. Status: 13.10.

Stand: 13.10.2025

About Zita

What life with Zita looks like

Zita is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
