Zizi

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 3 years

Zizi is a tricolor cat who has proven to be quite stubborn at the shelter. She absolutely dislikes other cats, which can naturally lead her to show her displeasure more often since she must share a room with them despite everything. However, even without other cats around, one should exercise some caution. Zizi loves to rub against your legs and will let you pet her for a bit, but it's easy for her to lose interest in cuddling and show it too. Therefore, Zizi is not a cat for children or nervous individuals; she seeks people with experience who won't mind her mood swings and can take her outside where she can run around freely. When we try to play with her, she just yawns, but outside there's definitely more variety and entertainment. Apart from that, she is a healthy young cat who would love to live outside the shelter and appreciates the comforts of a permanent home with food and a place to sleep. DE·Show original

About Zizi

What life with Zizi looks like

Zizi is a small young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Darmstadt in Darmstadt.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zizi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zizi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Darmstadt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zizi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zizi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Darmstadt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zizi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zizi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Darmstadt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zizi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
