Adopt Zizou

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Zizou has not had an easy life. He roamed the village on his own, always like that since his owner let him out without a leash. When the owner passed away, he ended up on the streets until he fell into a cat trap. From there, he went to the dog pound and eventually made it to us. In the early hours, he managed to escape and spent a week in Palencia until, thanks to some volunteers from Valladolid, he was recaptured. However, in early October 2021, he escaped again and went missing ??????? Last seen in the vicinity of Palencia capital but... ??? Zizou is a wary dog; humans haven't shown him much good. He's also very intelligent. PLEASE: ANY INFORMATION, DO NOT STOP CONTACTING US (preferably and more immediately by phone, call, and if necessary, WhatsApp). We will keep searching for you until we find you, Zizou ???? Contact:

??? About Zizou

What life with Zizou looks like

Zizou is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina in Spain.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zizou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zizou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zizou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zizou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zizou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zizou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zizou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
