Adopt Zoe

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 20 years

Fluffy, glossy fur and a relaxed, contented expression on her cute face... and the loving cuddles on a human's arm (still in the animal shelter). This is the sweet Zoe. In contrast are her big, fearful, irritated eyes, the rough, thin fur, and the tucked tail between her hind legs. This was Zoe when she arrived at the animal shelter. Now she looks as if she is looking forward hopefully: to a future where her human(s) are waiting for her, to experience beautiful things together. For example, a walk in the green, sniffing in the garden or park, just snuggling together, eating something delicious, and of course enjoying everyday life together. Zoe has had to endure the dark side of life so far. It can only be assumed that she was rescued from an apartment where too many animals had to live under very difficult conditions. Zoe was malnourished and undernourished, neglected, and frightened. She was in a very miserable condition. Fortunately, this is now past. Zoe fortunately came to the animal shelter, where she received medical care and regained her strength. This kind-hearted dog seems - after all the hardships she had to go through - as if she has not lost her trust in people. This is a good basis. Zoe is a friendly, lovable, very social, adaptable dog. She is still a bit shy and doesn't know much. She probably doesn't know a garden, running freely or playing (yes, even older dogs can play!). A leash is unknown to her. So she has a lot to learn in order to experience living with her human(s) as beautifully as possible. A dog learns throughout its life. So it should be a lot of fun to learn together with patience, without (time) pressure, understanding and affirmation (treats?), what she needs. Zoe will be very grateful for that. Especially happy will she be about a cozy dog bed, a food bowl filled with good food, and about loving, dog-friendly people. Zoe is looking forward to her journey to this new home. © 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Zoe

What life with Zoe looks like

Zoe is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
