Adopt Zoey

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Zoey – the gentle heroine, who must start anew Zoey is a female dog whose story shows how much strength can lie in a gentle heart. When she was found at the animal shelter, she wasn’t alone – her puppy was by her side. Zoey was very shy, cautious, and overwhelmed by the world around her. The loud life at the animal shelter filled her with great fear. She kept her distance from people and took a long time to build any trust. But Zoey is a fighter and was finally allowed to leave the animal shelter and move to her own home after a short time. There, a new chapter began for her. With patience, love, and calmness, Zoey gradually developed into a wonderful companion. She learned that people don’t always have to be loud and intimidating, but can also be a source of security and safety. However, Zoey had to endure another heavy loss, as her owner, who had given her so much security, passed away. Now, Zoey stands at the beginning of a new chapter in her life and hopes that somewhere out there, there are people who will open their hearts to this special female dog. Despite all these setbacks, Zoey always shows her loving and friendly nature and hopes to find her happiness again. In dealing with strangers, Zoey is initially still somewhat reserved, but those who give her a moment of time soon realize how curious and friendly she actually is. Once the ice is broken, Zoey shows her warm heart and enjoys the closeness to her people very much. She loves walks and explores her surroundings attentively. She plays especially well with her friend Lucy, the two understand each other wonderfully and give each other security. In everyday life, Zoey shows herself to be a very pleasant companion. She walks wonderfully on a leash, is house-trained, and loves a quiet, structured life by the side of her people.

About Zoey

What life with Zoey looks like

Zoey is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
