Zoi

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 7 months

Zoi, a friendly, curious, playful, and people-oriented female puppy, is looking for a foster home. She is approximately 7 months old, small in size, and unspayed. She is currently located in Montenegro, privately with Marta, a local animal rights activist in Podgorica. Zoi was found by Marta in a dark, damp stable, along with 80 other dogs, without access to daylight. This supposed "shelter" in northern Montenegro was planning to euthanize half of the animals to make space. Zoi was at the top of the list. She was in a catastrophically neglected state and so fearful and weak that she could barely stand. Fortunately, a veterinary check revealed that she is physically healthy, just severely neglected. Zoi has immediately seized her second chance, stood up, and wanted to run. She wants to live and is finding more courage every day. Despite her difficult start in life, Zoi is a friendly, lively puppy who seeks the company of her trusted humans and loves to cuddle with them. We are looking for a foster home/interested parties with a loving home where the young puppy can finally arrive properly. You can also see more about Zoi on our Instagram channel. If you are interested in Zoi, please fill out the interested party form. Please note that the behaviors listed here are currently exhibited by the animal in its current environment. The animal's behavior may change in a new environment and in a new context, or the animal may behave differently. We can only provide information about how the animal behaves currently to the best of our knowledge. We will be happy to support you, especially in the initial period, and help with the settling-in process.

____________ Hast Du Interesse an Zoi? About Zoi

What life with Zoi looks like

Zoi is a small puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Caramelli Rescue Montenegro in Nationwide.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇲🇪Adopting from Montenegro

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoi?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Caramelli Rescue Montenegro handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoi if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Caramelli Rescue Montenegro will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zoi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoi isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Caramelli Rescue Montenegro early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
