Zoja

Female · Young · 3 years

Zoja is a dog with a character, a dog that requires understanding, patience and experience. Her cute appearance is a facade - underneath lies a true terrier: independent, dynamic and having her own opinion. And in Zoi's case, unfortunately, it's also likely a very big and heavy baggage of experiences, which affects her behavior in stressful situations. Zoja was already adopted and unfortunately is looking for a home again due to behavioral problems. Zoja needs a home where the caregiver won't be scared of growling or teeth and doesn't expect an "easy" dog. Like any terrier, she has a strong character, is a stubborn and determined mule, who sometimes can snap, shout "Don't tell me how to live" and push her ideas. Zojka is a smart, dynamic, young dog. She knows basic commands. She likes to learn and if she has the conditions, calm and understanding caregivers, she works well with people. She loves walks and sniffs a lot during pedestrian walks. We are looking for someone who knows terriers, understands their needs and is ready for conscious work, even under the supervision of a behaviorist. Zoja is a demanding female dog, who needs clearly defined household boundaries, a decisive, stable caregiver, a calm environment and long, interesting walks. From what we know from the previous adoption, Zoja will definitely feel more at home in a house or apartment where there is a lot of space. Zoja is not suitable for a home with children or other animals.

PL·Show original

Zojka to pojętny, dynamiczny, młody psiak. Zna podstawowe komendy. Lubi się uczyć i jeśli będzie mieć ku temu warunki, spokój i wyrozumiałych opiekunów to świetnie współpracuje z człowiekiem. Uwielbia spacery i dużo węszy podczas pieszych wędrówek. About Zoja

What life with Zoja looks like

Zoja is a small young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Behavioral issues, requires behavioral specialist guidance, needs large living space, no children or other animals

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
