Zoya

Female · Young · 1 year

Zoya - 100% sugar in sugar, This little sweetie came to us in March, during her short about one-year life she already had a few escapes from her former home, after the last time her owners no longer wanted to take her back. Fortunately, this worked to our advantage for Our Zoi, now she can finally experience a real home, where no one will raise a hand against her, or shout. What is Zoya like? Divine! At first contact she is a bit reserved, but easily bribed with sausages. Once she gets to know the guide better, she becomes wonderful, eager for contact. However, you have to control your emotions, because Zoya can get a bit overwhelmed with too much contact. During walks she explores a lot, many things are new for her, even a pile of tires arranged in a tower. She is getting better at walking on a leash, although she still has some "spurts," especially when she can't reach a bush that she definitely has to sniff, and I have to admit, the leash has some strength. In the city, she behaves as if she had lived there all her life - cars, bicycles, people, everything is indifferent to her! She doesn't quite understand the concept of stairs and sometimes gets scared, especially when she hears a louder sound or a gunshot, but I am sure that over time it won't affect her anymore. She is not exactly on good terms with other dogs, even though she lives in the kennel with a dog friend, she would definitely prefer to live as an only dog. Zoya is not entirely sure how to behave when meeting another four-legged friend, and while it is possible to work on this, I doubt she will ever enjoy close contact with her kind. Zoya is ideal for people who value peace, love hiking in the surrounding woods or fields with occasional trips into the city to look for a "dog-friendly" cafe, where you can drink a good coffee and eat homemade cake without hurrying. Zoya is only one year old, weighs 24 kg, is a medium-sized dog, but also well built. She doesn't mind living in the city. It would be best if she was the only dog in the family, we don't know how she would behave towards cats or children, but I don't see any contraindications for her sharing household space with them. Zoya is currently at the animal shelter in Choszczno "On the Other Side of Choszczno". If you want to get to know her better, call volunteer Karolina - 501 . If you want to help this dog, but can't adopt her - we invite you for walks! Every day between .

Zoya przebywa w Schronisku w Choszcznie "Po Drugiej Stronie Choszczna", jeśli chcesz ją poznać lepiej, dzwoń do Wolontariuszki Karoliny - 501 . Jeśli chcesz pomóc temu psu, a nie możesz go adoptować- zapraszamy na spacery! Codziennie w godzinach . KONTAKT W SPRAWIE PSA KAROLINA 501051386 , LUB BIURO 513 135 375

About Zoya

What life with Zoya looks like

Zoya is a large young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zoya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
