Zuma

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Zuma is a smart, active and people-oriented female mixed breed dog, born in November 2025. She has been at the shelter since September 11, 2026. Zuma shows a friendly and open side with people she trusts. Once she has gained trust, she bonds closely with her humans, seeks their company and enjoys activities together. She enjoys physical and mental stimulation. Zuma knows basic commands and enjoys going for walks. She generally gets along well with other dogs. However, Zuma has a strong territorial side in her home. Due to her suspected breed heritage - possibly with a herding dog component - she takes guarding her property and home environment very seriously. Strangers in her territory can be a challenge for her. Therefore, we are looking for dog-experienced people who ideally have experience with territorial behavior or similar dog types. Her future owners should provide her with clear and reliable structures, manage situations proactively and be willing to work with her on her behavior. Zuma knows children. However, we prefer to place her in a home without children. Zuma would prefer to be a single dog in her new home. We could also imagine a confident, suitable male by her side if the dogs get along well during a previous meeting. We want people for Zuma who do not underestimate her special characteristics, but also see the great dog behind this behavior: intelligent, eager to learn, active and closely bonded to her caregivers.

Rasse: Mischling. Geschlecht: weiblichAlter: geb.

About Zuma

What life with Zuma looks like

Zuma is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübbersdorf in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zuma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zuma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübbersdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zuma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zuma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübbersdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zuma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zuma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübbersdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zuma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
