Zuza

Female · Senior · 14 years

Zuza doesn’t live in a cattery with other cats—she lives in a kennel in the shelter’s veterinary clinic. Why? Because without a human by her side, she gets depressed and stops eating. 😔 This stunning cat, who’s only a few years old, spent most of her life in a little house by the side of her beloved caregiver, who unfortunately became seriously ill, forcing Zuza to end up at the shelter. It’s no wonder it’s so hard for her to come to terms with such a huge loss. Zuza is as beautiful as she is strong-willed. You’ll definitely need to respect her independence and give her plenty of space so that she can take her time getting used to us, trusting us, and once again learning to love someone as deeply as she loved her previous feline mom. Due to her health issues, she needs to take medication on a regular basis and requires frequent visits to the vet. But in return for your care, your presence, and your calmness, she’ll offer you her unwavering loyalty. (Remember: besides providing her with a permanent home, you can also become her temporary foster home—then the shelter will cover her food and medical care, which would make a world of difference in improving the comfort and quality of her autumn years.) ❤️

PL·Show original

About Zuza

What life with Zuza looks like

Zuza is a small senior cat waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zuza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zuza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zuza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zuza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zuza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zuza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zuza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
