Jazz es un caballo árabe X Gales de la Sección D de 15,2 hh, nacida en 1999. Sufre una condición respiratoria llamada EPOC, o Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica, que es similar al asma humano. Jazz llegó a Shy Lowen en agosto de 2008, después de que fuera comprada por principiantes que buscaban un caballo familiar. Jazz fue el primer caballo que vieron y lo compraron inmediatamente porque quedaron impresionados por su apariencia destacada, a pesar de que era un caballo joven, nervioso y totalmente inadecuado para sus necesidades. Jazz desarrolló problemas de comportamiento debido a que había sido maltratada y se convirtió en una amenaza para la familia, especialmente porque se revolvía cuando la montaban. Debido a esto y a su EPOC, no pudieron venderla y en su lugar la registraron en el santuario. Jazz se adaptó rápidamente en Shy Lowen y respondió bien a su reentrenamiento. Su EPOC se desencadena por el polvo del paja y el heno, por lo que beneficia de vivir al aire libre y ahora raramente sufre síntomas. Jazz es un caballo encantador, pero también una yegua típica de color castaño, y su cría árabe solo la hace aún más espontánea y temperamental. Es fácil de manejar en tierra, pero necesita un jinete experimentado ya que puede ser tímida, se aburre fácilmente y no duda en hacer berrinches con un revolcón o un levantamiento ocasional para conseguir lo que quiere. Le encanta saltar y está mejor adaptada a un jinete seguro que tenga las habilidades para continuar su educación y disfrute de un desafío.

Jazz is a 15.2hh Arab X Welsh Section D, born in 1999. She suffers from a respiratory condition called COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, which is similar to human Asthma. Jazz came to Shy Lowen in August 2008, after she had been bought by novices looking for a family horse. Jazz was the first horse they saw and they bought her immediately as they were taken with her striking looks, despite her being a young, flighty horse who was totally unsuitable for their needs. Jazz developed behavioural problems as a result of her being mishandled and became a danger to the family, especially as she bucked when ridden. Because of this and her COPD, they were unable to sell her on and instead signed her into the sanctuary. Jazz settled quickly at Shy Lowen and responded well to her retraining. Her COPD is triggered by dust from bedding and hay, so she benefits from living outdoors and now rarely suffers any symptoms. Jazz is a lovely horse, but also a typical chestnut mare, and her Arab breeding only makes her even more spirited and temperamental! She is good to handle on the ground, but needs an experienced rider as she can be spooky, is easily bored, and thinks nothing of throwing tantrums with the odd buck or rear to get her own way! She loves to jump and is best suited to a confident rider who has the skills to continue her schooling and enjoys a challenge.
