Jazz est un hongre Arab X Gallois de la Section D, mesurant 15,2 hh, né en 1999. Elle souffre d'une pathologie respiratoire appelée BPCO (bronchopneumopathie chronique obstructive), qui est similaire à l'asthme humain. Jazz est arrivée au Shy Lowen en août 2008, après avoir été achetée par des débutants qui recherchaient un cheval familial. Jazz était le premier cheval qu'ils ont vu et ils l'ont acheté immédiatement, attirés par son apparence frappante, malgré le fait qu'elle soit une jeune jument nerveuse totalement inadaptée à leurs besoins. Jazz a développé des problèmes comportementaux en raison de son mauvais traitement et est devenue dangereuse pour la famille, notamment parce qu'elle se cabrait lorsqu'on la montait. En raison de cela et de sa BPCO, ils n'ont pas pu la vendre et ont finalement décidé de la placer dans le refuge. Jazz s'est rapidement adaptée au Shy Lowen et a réagi bien à sa reformation. Sa BPCO est déclenchée par la poussière des litières et du foin, donc elle bénéficie d'un environnement extérieur et maintenant elle souffre rarement de symptômes. Jazz est un cheval charmant, mais aussi une jument typique aux poils rouges, et son sang arabe ne fait qu'accroître encore son tempérament vif et capricieux ! Elle est facile à manipuler au sol, mais nécessite un cavalier expérimenté car elle peut être effrayée, s'ennuie facilement et n'hésite pas à faire des caprices avec quelques ruades ou cabrés pour obtenir ce qu'elle veut ! Elle adore sauter et est mieux adaptée à un cavalier confiant qui possède les compétences suffisantes pour continuer sa formation et qui aime les défis.

Jazz is a 15.2hh Arab X Welsh Section D, born in 1999. She suffers from a respiratory condition called COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, which is similar to human Asthma. Jazz came to Shy Lowen in August 2008, after she had been bought by novices looking for a family horse. Jazz was the first horse they saw and they bought her immediately as they were taken with her striking looks, despite her being a young, flighty horse who was totally unsuitable for their needs. Jazz developed behavioural problems as a result of her being mishandled and became a danger to the family, especially as she bucked when ridden. Because of this and her COPD, they were unable to sell her on and instead signed her into the sanctuary. Jazz settled quickly at Shy Lowen and responded well to her retraining. Her COPD is triggered by dust from bedding and hay, so she benefits from living outdoors and now rarely suffers any symptoms. Jazz is a lovely horse, but also a typical chestnut mare, and her Arab breeding only makes her even more spirited and temperamental! She is good to handle on the ground, but needs an experienced rider as she can be spooky, is easily bored, and thinks nothing of throwing tantrums with the odd buck or rear to get her own way! She loves to jump and is best suited to a confident rider who has the skills to continue her schooling and enjoys a challenge.
