Hace aproximadamente una semana, el perro de mezcla border collie de unos cuatro años ha estado con nosotros en el refugio animal de Calvià. Era una criatura terriblemente asustada que descubrí recientemente en el Parque Perrera Natura. Solo podemos adivinar lo que Lady ya ha vivido en su vida - y ciertamente no incluye mucho bueno. En primer lugar está actualmente su pánico absoluto hacia los hombres. Pero también su miedo e inseguridad ante todo lo que es realmente nuevo. En este momento suponemos que probablemente vivió en una finca y fue dejada más o menos sola hasta que terminó como vagabunda en Perrera. Sin embargo, Lady también es un perro muy especial - y ciertamente un perro con mucho potencial. Es capaz de construir rápidamente una relación real y intensa de confianza con sus cuidadores (actualmente bastante femeninos). Pero todo lo demás fuera es bastante malo para ella en este momento. Esto incluye actualmente encuentros con coches, con otros perros, con gatos y muchas otras cosas que simplemente todavía no conoce. Por lo tanto, este perro especial definitivamente debe ir a personas experimentadas con perros, o mejor aún, incluso experimentadas con la raza. Especialmente al principio, debe haber presente una cuidadora femenina. Lady seguramente se dará cuenta pronto de que también puede confiar en los hombres - pero eso toma mucho tiempo, mucha calma y mucha paciencia. En ningún caso se debe esperar demasiado de ella aquí demasiado rápido. También es claro que Lady tiene muchos genes de border collie en ella - es decir, también debe ser promovida y desafiada en esa dirección. Los nuevos dueños de Lady deben vivir en un área tranquila y tener un jardín cercado. Otro perro con el que se lleva bien y con quien podría orientarse - tal vez incluso otro border collie 😉 - sería sin duda una ventaja; pero por supuesto esto no es un requisito. Lady es un perro realmente especial que solo necesita tiempo y las personas adecuadas a su lado. Entonces se convertirá en un compañero maravilloso a lo largo de la vida. Ya está esterilizada, completamente vacunada y ha dado negativo para leishmaniasis. Por supuesto, también puede salir de la isla.

For about a week, the approximately four-year-old Bordercollie mixed-breed dog has been with us in the animal shelter in Calvià. She was terribly frightened creature that I discovered recently in the Perrera Natura Park. We can only guess what Lady has already been through in her life – and that certainly doesn’t include much good. At the forefront is currently her downright panicked fear of men. But also her fear and insecurity about everything that is actually new. At the moment we assume that she probably lived on a finca and was more or less left to herself until she ended up as a vagabond in the Perrera. However Lady is also a very special dog – and certainly a dog with a lot of potential. She is quickly able to build up a really good and intensive relationship of trust with her (currently rather female) caregivers. But everything else outside is just pretty bad for them at the moment. This currently also includes encounters with cars, with other dogs, with cats and many other things that she simply does not really know yet. Therefore this special dog definitely should go to dog-experienced or better of course even breed-experienced people. Especially at the beginning, a female caregiver should be present. Lady will certainly soon realise that she can also trust men – but that takes a lot of time, a lot of peace and a lot of patience. Under no circumstances one should expect too much from her here too quickly. It is also clear that Lady has a lot of Border Collie genes in her – i.e. she absolutely must also be promoted and challenged in this direction. Ladies new people should live in a quiet area and have a fenced garden. Another dog with which she gets along well and on which she can perhaps orient herself – maybe even another Border Collie 😉 – would certainly be an advantage; but of course this is not a must. Lady is a really special dog who just needs time and the right people by her side. Then she will become a wonderful companion through life. She is already neutered, fully vaccinated and tested negative for leishmaniasis. Of course, she can also leave the island.
