Depuis environ une semaine, le chien croisé border collie d'environ quatre ans est avec nous au refuge animal de Calvià. C'était une créature terriblement effrayée que j'ai découverte récemment dans le parc Perrera Natura. Nous ne pouvons qu'imaginer ce que Lady a déjà traversé dans sa vie - et cela n'a certainement pas inclus beaucoup de choses positives. En premier lieu, c'est actuellement une peur panique face aux hommes. Mais aussi sa peur et son insécurité face à tout ce qui est nouveau. Pour l'instant, nous supposons qu'elle a probablement vécu sur une finca et a été laissée plus ou moins seule jusqu'à ce qu'elle devienne un vagabond dans le Perrera. Cependant, Lady est aussi un chien très spécial - et certainement un chien plein de potentiel. Elle est rapidement capable d'établir une relation de confiance réelle et intensive avec ses soignants (actuellement plutôt féminins). Mais tout le reste à l'extérieur est actuellement assez difficile pour elle. Cela inclut également les rencontres avec les voitures, les autres chiens, les chats et bien d'autres choses qu'elle ne connaît pas encore vraiment. Par conséquent, ce chien spécial devrait certainement aller chez des personnes expérimentées en chiens, ou mieux encore, expérimentées en race. En particulier au début, une soignante féminine devrait être présente. Lady réalisera certainement bientôt qu'elle peut faire confiance aux hommes - mais cela prendra beaucoup de temps, beaucoup de calme et beaucoup de patience. En aucun cas on ne devrait s'attendre à trop d'elle ici trop vite. Il est également clair que Lady a beaucoup de gènes de border collie - c'est-à-dire qu'elle doit également être stimulée et défie dans cette direction. Les nouvelles personnes de Lady devraient habiter dans une zone calme et avoir un jardin clôturé. Un autre chien avec lequel elle s'entend bien et qu'elle pourrait éventuellement prendre comme repère - peut-être même un autre border collie 😉 - serait certainement un avantage ; mais bien sûr ce n'est pas obligatoire. Lady est un chien vraiment spécial qui n'a besoin que de temps et des bonnes personnes à côté d'elle. Alors elle deviendra un merveilleux compagnon toute sa vie. Elle est déjà stérilisée, complètement vaccinée et négative pour la leishmaniose. Bien sûr, elle peut quitter l'île.

For about a week, the approximately four-year-old Bordercollie mixed-breed dog has been with us in the animal shelter in Calvià. She was terribly frightened creature that I discovered recently in the Perrera Natura Park. We can only guess what Lady has already been through in her life – and that certainly doesn’t include much good. At the forefront is currently her downright panicked fear of men. But also her fear and insecurity about everything that is actually new. At the moment we assume that she probably lived on a finca and was more or less left to herself until she ended up as a vagabond in the Perrera. However Lady is also a very special dog – and certainly a dog with a lot of potential. She is quickly able to build up a really good and intensive relationship of trust with her (currently rather female) caregivers. But everything else outside is just pretty bad for them at the moment. This currently also includes encounters with cars, with other dogs, with cats and many other things that she simply does not really know yet. Therefore this special dog definitely should go to dog-experienced or better of course even breed-experienced people. Especially at the beginning, a female caregiver should be present. Lady will certainly soon realise that she can also trust men – but that takes a lot of time, a lot of peace and a lot of patience. Under no circumstances one should expect too much from her here too quickly. It is also clear that Lady has a lot of Border Collie genes in her – i.e. she absolutely must also be promoted and challenged in this direction. Ladies new people should live in a quiet area and have a fenced garden. Another dog with which she gets along well and on which she can perhaps orient herself – maybe even another Border Collie 😉 – would certainly be an advantage; but of course this is not a must. Lady is a really special dog who just needs time and the right people by her side. Then she will become a wonderful companion through life. She is already neutered, fully vaccinated and tested negative for leishmaniasis. Of course, she can also leave the island.
