Al inicio de esta semana, dos bellas chicas llegaron a nuestro cuidado con verdaderas historias conmovedoras. Por favor, den la bienvenida a Treacle de 5 años y Toffee de 5 años a la familia Geordie Bullies. Las chicas fueron entregadas a refugios locales por su dueño después de supuestamente necesitar mudarse y no poder llevarlas. Sin embargo, hemos descubierto desde entonces que habían estado viviendo afuera en jaulas, y tras ver el estado en que llegaron, lamentablemente creemos que hay mucho más en su historia. Treacle y Toffee ahora se han unido a Bonita y su familia en el centro de Inglaterra, donde están comenzando lentamente a experimentar el confort, el calor y la seguridad de un entorno real de hogar. No es sorprendente que ambas chicas llegaran extremadamente estresadas y abrumadas, e incluso podría ser la primera vez que viven correctamente dentro de una casa familiar. Todo es nuevo para ellas: las personas, el amor, la rutina, el confort, pero con paciencia, seguridad y mucha atención, ya están comenzando a adaptarse maravillosamente. A las chicas les encanta pasar tiempo en el jardín y han estado compartiendo felizmente su espacio, bajo supervisión, con los perros residentes. Ver cómo lentamente se relajan y comienzan a sentirse seguras ya ha sido emocionante. Estábamos muy preocupados por la salud de ambas chicas, así que visitaron al veterinario ayer para chequeos completos. Treacle sufre de ojo seco grave y entropión leve. Sus ojos fueron revisados en busca de úlceras, pero lamentablemente la opacidad parece ser cicatrización causada por su condición sin tratar durante demasiado tiempo. También nos preocupaba su respiración, y podría requerir cirugía BOAS, aunque necesitará más evaluaciones para determinar la gravedad y si la cirugía será necesaria con certeza. La piel de Toffee está roja, dolorida y muy fúngica. Ahora ha recibido medicamento para ayudar a controlar su piel y sus alergias y, con el tratamiento adecuado y mucho amor, estamos esperanzados de que pronto comience a sentirse mucho más cómoda y feliz. También es claramente conmovedor que ambas chicas hayan sido utilizadas previamente para reproducción. A partir de su condición y las circunstancias en las que llegaron, creemos que podrían haber pasado gran parte de sus vidas siendo utilizadas para producir cachorros con fines de lucro antes de ser descartadas como si no significaran nada. Pero esa vida está detrás de ellas ahora. Treacle y Toffee, bienvenidas a la familia Geordie Bullies. A partir de este día, solo conocerán amor, seguridad, confort y bondad. At the start of this week, two beautiful girls arrived into our care with truly heartbreaking stories. Please welcome 5-year-old Treacle and 5-year-old Toffee to the Geordie Bullies family. The girls were handed over to local kennels by their owner after supposedly needing to move house and being unable to take them along. However, we have since learned they had been living outside in kennels, and after seeing the condition they arrived in, we sadly believe there is far more to their story. Treacle and Toffee have now joined Bonita and her family in the Midlands, where they are slowly beginning to experience the comfort, warmth, and safety of a real home environment. Unsurprisingly, both girls arrived extremely stressed and overwhelmed, and it may even be their first time properly living inside a family home. Everything is new to them — the people, the love, the routine, the comfort — but with patience, reassurance, and plenty of TLC, they are already beginning to settle beautifully. The girls especially love spending time in the garden and have been happily sharing their space, under supervision, with the resident dogs. Watching them slowly relax and start to feel safe has already been incredibly emotional. We were very concerned about both girls’ health, so they visited the vets yesterday for full health checks. Treacle is suffering from severe dry eye and mild entropion. Her eyes were checked for ulcers, but sadly the cloudiness appears to be scarring caused by her condition being left untreated for far too long. We were also concerned about her breathing, and she may require BOAS surgery, although she will need further assessments to determine the severity and whether surgery will definitely be needed. Toffee’s skin is currently red, sore, and extremely yeasty. She has now been prescribed medication to help get her skin and allergies under control and, with the right treatment and lots of love, we are hopeful she will soon begin feeling far more comfortable and happy. It is also heartbreakingly clear that both girls have previously been used for breeding. From their condition and the circumstances they came from, we believe they may have spent much of their lives being used to produce puppies for profit before being discarded as though they meant nothing. But that life is behind them now. Treacle and Toffee, welcome to your Geordie Bullies family. From this day forward, you will only ever know love, safety, comfort, and kindness. We cannot wait to watch you both heal, thrive, and finally enjoy the happy lives you have always deserved.
