¡Hola! Somos un trio de periquitos Eclectus. Estamos con nuestros propietarios actuales desde hace 6 años y medio. Zanthea y Loki son la pareja poderosa del grupo, poniendo huevos al menos 3 veces al año. Zanthea es la chica más dulce y aunque las hormonas estén alborotadas sigue siendo muy dulce y tranquila. (siempre que no te acerques a sus huevos). Loki por otro lado no tolera al cuidador principal durante los períodos de reproducción, muerde así que solemos retirarlo de la habitación cuando limpiamos, etc. Parece que tolera al hombre de la casa cuando entra a limpiar. Milo es un encanto siempre. Todos viven libres en una gran habitación para aves con otras aves y tienen acceso a un aviario exterior. Historia/Contexto: Fuimos adoptados anteriormente por Problem Parrots, pero debido a un cambio de circunstancias tuvimos que devolverlos a la organización benéfica. Entrenamiento: Todos volarán hacia ti libremente, pero Loki puede morder si está hormonal, así que Loki necesitará algo de trabajo con esto. Alimentación: Debido a sus dietas especiales, comen principalmente frutas y verduras frescas. Comen muy poco grano y eligen verduras y frutas sobre el grano, lo cual es bueno al vivir entre otras especies. Zanthea consume alimentos ricos en proteínas y calcio especialmente durante y después de sus períodos de puesta de huevos. Enriquecimiento: Amán nada más que estar en el aviario exterior. Juegan con juguetes de madera y disfrutan colgándose de cuerdas todo el día. Zanthea y Milo aman sentarse en tus hombros mientras realizas tus actividades diarias. A Zanthea le encantan las duchas diarias o rociadas y los chicos normalmente se unen también. Resumen: Serían adecuados para un hogar donde puedan hacer su día libremente, idealmente una habitación para aves o un aviario. Se llevan bien con otras aves fácilmente y formaran amistades con ellas. Zanthea tiende a poner sus huevos en el suelo en una caja, que queda fuera del alcance de las otras aves de arriba. Si no bajan a su caja ella está contenta. Nosotros retiramos los huevos una vez que ha puesto y los reemplazamos con huevos falsos, los cuales retiramos después de aproximadamente 20 días. Ella era un pájaro completamente plumado hasta que comenzó a reproducirse y las hormonas entraron en juego. También tiende a preen demasiado. En general no son pájaros ruidosos, solo algunas llamadas de vez en cuando, normalmente de Milo ya que no tiene una compañera. Son fáciles de cuidar y no molestan en absoluto. No son pájaros exigentes, pero aman interactuar contigo y escucharán todo el día mientras hablas con ellos. Los machos hablan y dicen "bello pico", "buen chico", "te amo" y mucho más. Hi! We are a bonded threesome of Eclectus parrots. We have been with our current owners for 6 and a half years. Zanthea and Loki are the power couple of the flock, producing eggs at least 3 times a year. Zanthea is the sweetedt girl and even when hormones are raging she is still so sweet and placid. (as long as you don't go near her eggs!) Loki on the other hand will not tolerate the main carer during the breeding periods, he will bite so we tend to remove him from the room when cleaning etc. He seems to tolerate the man in the house though when he goes in to clean. Milo is a sweetheart always. All live freely in a large bird room with other parrots and have access to an outside aviary. History/Background: We were previously adopted by Problem Parrots, but due to a change of circumstances have had to return to the charity. Training: All will fly to you freely, but Loki can bite if hormonal, so Loki will need some work with this. Diet: Due to their special diets, they eat mainly fresh fruit and veg. They eat very little seed and will choose veg and fruit ober seed which is good when living amongst other species. Zanthea does have protein and calcium rich foods especially during and after her egg laying periods. Enrichment: The love nothing more than being in the outside aviary. They do play with wooden toys and will happily swing on ropes all day long. Zanthea and Milo love sitting on your shoulders while you go about your day. Zanthea loves daily baths r sprays and the the boys usually join in too. Summary: They would suit a home where they are free to go about their day, ideally a bird room or an aviary. They do get along with other birds very easily and will form friendships with them. Zanthea does tend to lay her eggs on the ground in a box, which is out of reach of the other birds above. Providing they do not go down to her box she is happy. We do remove the eggs once she has laid and replace with false eggs, which we remove after about 20 days. She was a fully feathered bird until she started breeding and the hormones kicked in. She also tends to over preen. All in all they are not noisy birds, just the odd calls now and then, usually from Milo as he has not got a lady. They are easy to care for and are really no bother at all. They are not needy birds, but do love to interact with you and they would listen to you talk to them all day long. The males do talk and say ‘pretty beak', ‘good boy', ‘I love you' and so much more.
