Nya a été sauvée par Adoption Dogs Portugal il y a quelques années et a passé cette période dans un foyer aimant. Elle a fait des progrès significatifs pendant ce temps, mais reste très effrayée et méfiante, même avec des personnes qu'elle connaît bien. Cela rend difficile de montrer de l'affection à Nya, bien que son aidant actuel puisse la mettre en laisse et la caresser si Nya est dans un endroit familier où elle se sent en sécurité. Nya marche bien en laisse, à condition qu'elle ne soit pas emmenée dans une situation qui la effraie, mais elle marche aussi bien et reste proche sans laisse. Nya n'a jamais mordu et est très soumise. Malgré sa méfiance envers les humains, Nya est à l'aise avec d'autres chiens, à condition qu'ils soient gentils et l'acceptent. Une fois qu'elle a établi un lien avec un chien qu'elle fait confiance, elle ne le quitte jamais. Nous recherchons une maison pour Nya où elle pourra avoir beaucoup de liberté à l'extérieur, idéalement sur une quinta dans un environnement paisible où il n'y a pas beaucoup d'activité humaine qui puisse l'effrayer. Nya ne sera jamais un chien câlin et ne peut pas être considérée comme un « animal de compagnie » au sens conventionnel, mais elle est un excellent chien de garde. Elle est vigilante, aboie fort, mais ne mord pas. Elle sera une compagne fidèle pour un autre chien et pourra vivre une vie très heureuse à l'extérieur dans un cadre approprié et sécurisé.

Nya was rescued by Adoption Dogs Portugal some years ago and has spent the intervening period in a loving foster home. She has made significant progress in that time, but remains a very scared and mistrustful dog, even with people she knows well. That makes it challenging to demonstrate affection for Nya, although her current carer is able to put her on a lead and stroke her if Nya is in a familiar place where she feels safe. Nya walks well on a lead, as long as she isn’t taken into a situation that scares her, but she also walks well and stays close without a lead. Nya never bites and is very submissive. Despite her mistrust of humans, Nya is comfortable around other dogs, as long as they are kind and they accept her. Once Nya has established a bond with a dog that she trusts, she will never leave its side. We’re looking for a home for Nya where she can have plenty of freedom outdoors, preferably on a quinta in peaceful surroundings where there is not a lot of human activity that might be alarming to her. Nya will never be a cuddly dog, and cannot be viewed as a ‘pet’ in the conventional sense, but she is an exceptionally good guard dog. She is watchful, has a loud bark, but doesn’t bite. She will be a loyal companion to another dog and can live a very happy outdoors life in an appropriate, secure setting.
