Présentons le grand Geronim. L'un des chevaux les plus difficiles et complexes actuellement sur la finca. Geronimo est celui qui fait se gratter la tête aux vétérinaires, celui qui a subi le plus de tests, de traitements, de rééducations et de résultats nuls. Geronimo a été laissé dans son ancienne maison avec les jambes entravées sans mouvement, lorsqu'il est venu chez nous, il avait des plaies ouvertes sur les deux jambes arrière dues au frottement des cordes, infectées, suintantes et douloureuses. Il était complètement enflé à une jambe arrière et à son éperon, en raison de vieilles blessures et du manque de mouvement. Le temps a guéri les jambes et le mouvement maintient l'enflure sous contrôle, toutefois, s'il ne quitte pas son paddock au moins une fois par jour et ne bouge pas, l'enflure reviendra. Il est rapidement devenu stable et sans douleur, cependant, il perdait du poids, il n'arrivait même pas à prendre du poids malgré sa bonne alimentation et son exercice approprié. Après presque un an de tests et de traitements variés, nous sommes très contents de dire qu'il suit la voie de la récupération et qu'il prend du poids en général, mais il reste difficile de maintenir son état. Cependant, il gagne en force jour après jour, et nous voyons vraiment sa personnalité briller. C'est un cheval très fort avec un passé triste mais un avenir positif. Geronimo est un géant doux, il a des difficultés à former des relations avec les autres chevaux, il est en bas de la hiérarchie, et il a fallu 2 ans avant qu'il ne réussisse à faire un ami avec Cadette. Il peut ne pas être un cheval pour les chevaux, mais il adore rien plus qu'être choyé et avoir du contact humain.

Let us introduce the big boy Geronim One of the most troubled and complicated horses currently on the finca. Geronimo is the one who gets the vets scratching their heads, the one who has had the most tests, treatments, rehabs and empty results. Geronimo was left in his previous home hobbled by his legs without any movement, when he came to us he had open wounds on both of his back legs from rope rubs, infected, oozing and painful. He was totally swollen in one hind leg and his sheath, due to old injuries and lack of movement. Time healed the legs and movement keeps the swelling under control, however if he doesn’t leave his paddock at least once a day and move it will swell again. He soon became sound and pain free, however he was loosing weight, not gaining it even with his good diet and appropriate exercise. After almost a year of tests and various treatments we are very happy to say he is on the road to recovery and putting on weight in general, but it is still hard to keep his condition. However he is gaining strength day by day and we are really seeing his personality shine. This is a very strong horse with a sad past but a positive future. Geronimo is a gentle giant, he struggles to form relationships with horses, he is the bottom of the pack and it took 2 years before he finally made a friend with Cadette. He may not be a horses horse but he loves nothing more than a fuss and human contact. He enjoys grooms, baths and a bum scratch which is also very useful as it keeps his skin conditions under control to and we have many willing volunteers for a big horse cuddle
