olby è un incrocio di media taglia, ha circa cinque anni. Colby è entrato nel nostro recupero circa un anno fa dal rifugio pubblico di Botosani in Romania. Si può dire che era stato ben addestrato a temere e odiare le persone da tutto ciò che aveva visto della razza umana. Dire che non ci piaceva sarebbe un sottinteso e ci è voluto molto tempo prima che potessimo fare altro che nutrirlo e semplicemente essere vicino a lui. Con il passare del tempo abbiamo guadagnato la sua fiducia abbastanza da rimuovere le ciocche attorcigliate che aveva portato con sé, poco per volta ha iniziato ad amarci. Colby ora è uno dei nostri personaggi preferiti. Adora giocare con la scopa quando spazziamo i pavimenti, si eccita di più di tutto il branco quando torno da una commissione breve e è al settimo cielo quando ritorno dai miei regolari viaggi in Romania. Colby dovrà vivere con un altro cane o cani a tempo pieno. Avrà bisogno di qualcuno con un buon livello di esperienza con cani nervosi che sia disposto a essere paziente per guadagnare la sua fiducia. Non posso dirvi quanto sia gratificante. Potreste non vedere il vero lui all'inizio ma dopo alcune settimane sarete divertiti e affascinati dal cane che verrà rivelato. Avrà bisogno di un ambiente domestico per adulti. Colby ha allevato Norwich Norfolk. Se sei interessato, invia un messaggio o chiama tra le 9:00 e le 17:00 da lunedì a venerdì o tra le 9:00 e le 16:00 sabato. Le quote di adozione sono valide dal 1° dicembre 2025: cuccioli già castrati e tutti i cani adulti: £430. Cuccioli non castrati con contratti di sterilizzazione: £530 (riceverai un rimborso di £100 una volta inviata la prova della sterilizzazione). Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150-£250 (a seconda dell'età e delle esigenze individuali). Politica di adozione Quando adotti un cane di Safe Rescue, DEVI usare una guinzaglio a scatto. Questo terrà sicuro il tuo cane: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non ti farà fiducia, e non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero agitare il tuo cane. Se il tuo cane panico, allora un guinzaglio a scatto è l'unica via per impedire al tuo cane di fuggire (molti cani possono sfuggire da collare e/o imbracatura). Ci vorranno ALMENO 3-6 mesi per permettere al tuo cane di ambientarsi e per conoscerlo completamente (più a lungo per i cani nervosi). Il guinzaglio a scatto deve SEMPRE essere utilizzato durante questo periodo di ambientamento. Anche dopo che il tuo cane si è ambientato, è più sicuro usare il guinzaglio a scatto in situazioni in cui il tuo cane potrebbe sentirsi spaventato (es. visite a luoghi nuovi, intorno a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario), e in situazioni in cui potrebbero verificarsi trigger imprevisti (es. intorno alla notte dei fuochi d'artificio). I cani nervosi potrebbero sempre indossare un guinzaglio a scatto come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Il guinzaglio a scatto è un dispositivo di sicurezza e mai deve essere usato come strumento di addestramento. Usare il guinzaglio per applicare pressione sul collo del cane è dannoso. Se il tuo cane tira il guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitano danni. Una volta che il tuo cane si è ambientato, potresti considerare di usare una cingia (insieme al guinzaglio a scatto) se il cane è comodo con esso. olby is a medium sized crossbreed aged around five years old. Colby came into our care around a year ago from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. Safe to say he’d been well taught to fear and dislike people from all he’d seen from the human race. To say he didn’t like us would be an understatement and it was a long time before we could do anything but feed him and just be around him. Over time we gained his trust enough to remove the matted dreadlocks he’d come to us carrying, little by little he grew to love us. Colby is now one of our favourite characters. He loves to play with the broom when we sweep the floors, he gets the most excited of the whole pack when I come home from the quickest of errands and is beside himself with excitement when I return from my regular trips to Romania. Colby will need to live with another dog or dogs full time. He will need someone with a good level of experience with nervous dogs who is willing to be patient to earn his trust. I cannot tell you how rewarding he is, you may not see the real him initially but after a few weeks you will be amused and besotted with the dog that will be revealed. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
