Aggiornamento 28.2.2026: Ora sono al rifugio. Erato ha circa 4 anni e è sana. Sono al sicuro e sotto la nostra cura. Cosa animali bellissimi. Sono felici di essere insieme. Anche se le loro vite sono state capovolte, facciamo del nostro meglio per rimetterle a posto. Finora tutto bene. Erato è la mamma (a sinistra), Lyra è la bambina (sebbene sia alta quanto sua madre, a destra). Dopo un po' di tempo per rilassarsi, li metteremo in adozione. Per ora le stiamo coccolando con tanta attenzione e permettendogli tempo per abituarsi al nostro spazio. La sua storia: Se sei stato al Vecchio Porto a Chania, hai visto Erato e sua figlia. Vivono su una barca. Beh, vivevano su una barca con il loro padrone. Il padrone è diventato malato, è stato ricoverato ed non può più prendersi cura di loro. La polizia del porto ha chiesto al comune di farli rimuovere dalla barca. La polizia del porto aveva cercato di contattarmi alcuni giorni fa ma non avevo avuto tempo di rispondere. Oggi dal veterinario, anche se non è abituata a farlo, il mio veterinario mi ha chiesto aiuto perché non poteva vedere questo animale "rilasciato" in strada. E' stato allora che mi ha portato dove era Erato nella gabbia e l'ho subito riconosciuta! Doveva essere rilasciata in strada? Questo animale aveva sempre avuto un padrone! Allora ho accettato di prenderla e sua figlia (che è sulla barca mentre scrivo) domani. Benvenuta Erato, spero che il rifugio sia temporaneo. Con la tua bellezza, probabilmente lo sarà. Erato ha un'età stimata di quattro anni. Oggi è stata castrata e clinicamente esaminata dal veterinario. È negativa per la leishmaniosi e sana.

She used to live on a boat at the old Harbor in Chania but her owner got sick and couldn’t take care of them anymore. Erato has vision problems and can't see very well. She is receiving treatment in the form of eye drops. Description/Updates/Pictures: Update June 2026: Erato likes to play with water Update February 2026: Now they are at the shelter. Erato is about 4 years and healthy. They are safe and in our care. What beautiful animals, happy to be together. Although their lives were turned upside down, we are doing our best to turn it right side up again. So far, so good. Erato is the momma (left), Lyra is the little girl (although she is as big as her momma, right). “They live on a boat. Well, they lived on a boat with their owner. Their owner has become ill, has been hospitalized and can no longer care for them. The harbor police asked from the municipality to have them removed from the boat. The harbor police had tried to contact me a few days ago but I had not had the time to get back to them. Today at the vet, although not accustomed to doing so, my vet asked me for help because she could not see this animal “released” on to the street. That was when she took me to where Erato was in her cage and I immediately recognized her! She was to be released on to the street? This animal had always had an owner! So I agreed to take her and her baby girl (who is on the boat as I write) tomorrow. Welcome Erato, I hope the shelter will be temporary. With your beauty, it probably will. Erato is estimated at four years old. Today she was neutered and clinically checked by the vet. She is leishmania negative and healthy.”
