Grace è un piccolo incrocio (forse pit bull chihuahua nel mix?) di circa quattro anni. Vive con un gatto. Ha bisogno di cani residenti. Solo casa tranquilla per adulti. Grace è entrata nel nostro recupero da poco dal rifugio pubblico di Botosani in Romania. Era terrorizzata nell'ambiente del rifugio e, anche se è ancora molto timida qui, sta gradualmente progredendo nella sicurezza. Avrà bisogno della compagnia di un altro cane o di cani nella sua casa definitiva. Nonostante abbia paura non ha mai neppure morsicato alcuno di noi mentre la maneggiavamo. È una piccola anima delicata che vive in un mondo di giganti che sta solo ora iniziando a comprendere. Grace non è una soluzione rapida e non diventerà un dolce cane da salotto amichevole in una notte. Ha bisogno di un adottatore che capisca che la fiducia richiede tempo per essere guadagnata quando si è sempre stati delusi e falliti dagli umani. È una lunga strada davanti ma incredibilmente gratificante e degna. È tesa al tocco e sobbalza ai movimenti improvvisi, ci sono molte ferite emozionali da curare che solo il tempo, la pazienza e l'amore possono riparare. Grace avrà bisogno di un ambiente domestico tranquillo senza bambini. Può vivere con i gatti e deve avere almeno un cane in residenza permanente. Grace ha fatto il foster in Poringland Norfolk. Se sei interessato scrivi o chiama tra le 9:00 e le 17:00 da lunedì a venerdì o tra le 9:00 e le 16:00 sabato. Le tariffe di adozione sono: Cuccioli già sterilizzati e tutti i cani adulti: £430. Cuccioli non sterilizzati su contratti di sterilizzazione: £530 (riceverai un rimborso di £100 una volta che ci invierai la prova della sterilizzazione). Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150–£250 (in base all'età e alle esigenze individuali). Condizioni e termini di adozione Quando adotti un cane di Safe Rescue, devi usare necessariamente una guinzaglio slip. Questo terrà il tuo cane al sicuro: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non ti farà fiducia, e non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero agitare il tuo cane. Se il tuo cane si spaventa, allora lo slip lead è l'unica via per prevenire che il tuo cane fugga (molti cani possono scappare da collare e/o finimenti). Ci vorrà ALMENO 3-6 mesi per far sistemare il tuo cane e per conoscere il tuo cane pienamente (più a lungo per i cani nervosi). Lo slip lead dovrà SEMPRE essere utilizzato durante questo periodo di adattamento. Anche dopo che il tuo cane si è ambientato, è più sicuro utilizzare lo slip lead in situazioni dove il tuo cane potrebbe spaventarsi (es. visitare luoghi nuovi, intorno a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario), e in situazioni in cui potrebbero verificarsi scatenanti inaspettati (es. attorno al "bonfire night"). I cani nervosi dovranno sempre indossare uno slip lead come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Lo slip lead è un dispositivo di sicurezza e non deve MAI essere utilizzato come strumento di addestramento. Usare il guinzaglio per applicare pressione sul collo del cane danneggia. Se il tuo cane tira il guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitino danni. Grace has come into our care recently from the Botosani public shelter in Romania. She was terrified in the shelter environment and, although still very timid here, she is gradually progressing in confidence. She will need the company of another dog or dogs in her forever home. Despite being scared she has never so much as snapped at any of us whilst handling her. She is a delicate little soul living in a world of giants that she is only now starting to understand. Grace is not a quick fix and will not be a friendly little lap dog overnight. She needs an adopter that understands that trust takes time to earn when you have only ever been let down and failed by humans. It’s a long road ahead but an incredibly rewarding and worthwhile one. She is tense to the touch and she flinches at sudden movements, there’s a lot of emotional wounds to heal that only time, patience and love can patch up. Grace will need a quiet home environment with no children. She can live with cats and must have at least one dog in full time residence. Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Terms & Conditions When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
