Meggie è un incrocio di media taglia con circa tre anni. Meggie è stata portata nel Regno Unito dalla Bosnia nel lontano ottobre 2022 da un altro soccorritore. Era arrivata con i suoi fratelli, tutti erano spaventati ma Meggie era la più spaventata e non usciva mai dal fondo di una gabbia nel suo ambiente di accoglienza. Abbiamo lavorato molte volte con il soccorritore e loro hanno chiesto se potevamo aiutarla. È passato molto tempo ma Meggie è ora pronta a trovare la sua casa. È ancora diffidente verso gli estranei e probabilmente non si mostrerà bene quando i potenziali adottatori andranno a vederla, ma in realtà se qualcuno le desse una possibilità è molto "normale" una volta che si è ambientata e ha imparato a conoscere tutti. Nel suo ambiente di accoglienza è molto giocosa e affettuosa. Cammina bene al guinzaglio, ma può essere un po' saltellante in nuovi luoghi e situazioni. Sta comunque crescendo in fiducia e crediamo che con il tempo dedicato in modo personale nella sua casa definitiva, tutta la sua ansia passerà. Meggie avrà bisogno di un altro cane residente permanente nella sua casa definitiva, semplicemente non riuscirebbe a stare sola. Avrà bisogno di un ambiente familiare per adulti non troppo caotico. Ha un bellissimo carattere una volta rilassata e sarà un'ottima aggiunta alla famiglia per qualcuno con un po' di dolcezza e pazienza. Meggie è stata accolta a Mattishall, Norfolk. Se sei interessato, invia un messaggio o chiama tra le 9:00 e le 17:00 da lunedì a venerdì o tra le 9:00 e le 16:00 il sabato. Le quote di adozione saranno: Dal 1° dicembre 2025, cuccioli già sterilizzati e tutti i cani adulti: £430. Cuccioli non sterilizzati con contratto di sterilizzazione: £530 (riceverai un rimborso di £100 una volta che ci invierai la prova della sterilizzazione). Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150–£250 (in base all'età e alle esigenze individuali). Policy di adozione Quando adotti un cane di Safe Rescue, DEVI usare un guinzaglio a scivolo. Questo terrà al sicuro il tuo cane: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non ti vorrà bene, e non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero agitare il cane. Se il cane panica, allora il guinzaglio a scivolo è l'unica via per evitare che scappi (molti cani possono sfuggire da collari e/o finimenti). Ci vorranno ALMENO 3-6 mesi per far abituare il cane e per conoscerlo pienamente (più tempo per i cani nervosi). Il guinzaglio a scivolo deve SEMPRE essere utilizzato durante questo periodo di adattamento. Anche dopo che il cane si è ambientato, è più sicuro usare il guinzaglio a scivolo nelle situazioni in cui il cane potrebbe spaventarsi (es. visitare luoghi nuovi, intorno a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario), e situazioni dove potrebbero verificarsi trigger imprevisti (es. durante la notte del fuoco d'artificio). I cani nervosi potrebbero dover indossare sempre il guinzaglio a scivolo come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Il guinzaglio a scivolo è un dispositivo di sicurezza e NON deve mai essere utilizzato come strumento di addestramento. Utilizzare il guinzaglio per applicare pressione sul collo del cane è dannoso. Se il cane tira il guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitino danni. Meggie is a medium sized crossbreed aged around three years old. Meggie was brought to the UK from Bosnia back in October 2022 by another rescuer. She came with her siblings, all were scared but Meggie was the most afraid and never came out from the back of a crate in her foster home. We have worked with the rescue many times and they asked if we could help her. It’s taken a very long time but Meggie is only now ready to find her own home. She is still wary of strangers and unlikely to show herself well when potential adopters come to see her, but actually if someone could just give her a chance she’s very “normal” once she’s settled and gotten to know everyone. In her foster home she is very playful and affectionate. She walks nicely on a lead but can be a bit jumpy in new places and situations. She continues to grow in confidence though and we believe that with the one to one time she will receive in her forever home all of her nervousness will go over time. Meggie will need another permanent resident dog in her forever home, she simply wouldn’t cope as an only dog. She will need an adult home environment that’s not too hectic. She has a lovely character once relaxed and will make someone a very loyal and loving family addition with a little kindness and patience. Meggie fostered Mattishall, Norfolk. Un-neutered puppies on spay/neuter contracts: £530 (You will receive a £100 rebate once you send us proof of neutering). Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Policy When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
