Hugo is een geweldig eenjarige Akita-Border Collie kruising die momenteel in onze zorg is via ons Homestay programma. Als jonge, levendige hond is hij vol enthousiasme voor het leven en leert hij nieuwe vaardigheden elke dag. Met voortgangstraining zal hij zeker verder groeien. Hugo is een grote, liefdevolle zachte bol die mensen, speelgoed, spelletjes en veel knuffels leuk vindt. Hij heeft een speelse, nieuwsgierige aard en houdt van verkennen van zijn omgeving. Hij is een toegankelijke, sociale companion die goed op gang komt met rustige, constante begeleiding en een gezin dat positieve oefeningen en betrokkenheid met hem waardeert. Hij bouwt nog steeds vertrouwen op tijd alleen door te brengen, dus hij heeft een thuis nodig waar de uren alleen aanvankelijk erg laag zijn, samen met een zacht, gestructureerd plan om hem te helpen onafhankelijkheid op zijn eigen ritme te ontwikkelen. Hugo reist goed en stelt zich prettig in de auto neer. Terwijl hij misschien aanvankelijk een beetje alert is, ontspant hij snel en kan hij de reis comfortabel genieten. Hugo zal echt stralen in een rustige tot matig actieve woning waar hij consistente routine en een rustige omgeving kan genieten. Hij kan in een huishouden met oudere tieners of volwassenen wonen. Hugo woont momenteel met oudere kinderen en heeft er respectvol met hen te maken. Omdat hij een levendige, enthousiaste jongeling is die zijn opwinding uitdrukt door te springen en te gillen, zoekt hij een huis zonder heel jonge kinderen. Om Hugo comfortabel te laten wennen, zal een huis met minder bezoekers—vooral aanvankelijk—zijn zelfvertrouwen ondersteunen en voorkomen dat hij te opgewonden raakt. Hugo is een geweldig vriendelijke en liefdevolle jonge hond met een groot persoonlijkheid. Hij leert nog hoe hij alle zijn emoties moet beheren, vooral bij het ontmoeten van nieuwe personen, het verkennen van nieuwe plekken of het tegenkomen van andere honden. Hij zoekt een toegewijde, positieve thuis dat graag oefeningen geeft en klaar is om hem te helpen zijn loslopende wandelingen, begroetingsmanieren, focus en rust verder te ontwikkelen. Hugo moet het enige hond in zijn nieuwe thuis zijn. Hij heeft beperkte sociale ervaringen gehad met andere honden en kan erg enthousiast en gefrustreerd worden als hij ze dichtbij ziet. Met geduldige begeleiding en voortgangstraining krijgt hij de kans om betere hond-tot-hond vaardigheden in de loop van de tijd te ontwikkelen.

Hugo is a handsome one-year-old Akita–Border Collie cross looking for his forever home through our Homestay scheme. This young boy is full of life, love, and personality. At just one year old, Hugo is still learning about the world and developing new skills every day. He's a bright, eager dog who has already made great progress and will continue to flourish with patient, positive guidance. Hugo is a big, affectionate softie who absolutely loves being with his people. Whether it's playing with his favourite toys, enjoying a game in the garden, exploring on a walk, or curling up for cuddles afterwards, he's happiest when he's included in family life. He has a playful, curious nature and is always keen to see what adventure comes next. Hugo is looking for a home that will enjoy continuing his training and helping him channel his enthusiasm into calm, confident behaviours. He's a clever dog who responds well to reward-based training and loves having something to learn. He's also still building confidence with spending time on his own, so he'll need a home where leaving hours are kept very low to begin with. With a gentle, structured approach, Hugo can gradually learn that being alone is nothing to worry about. Hugo travels well in the car and settles down nicely once he's on the move. He may be a little alert when a journey begins, but he quickly relaxes and is happy to enjoy the ride. Hugo is a friendly, affectionate young dog with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. He loves being around his people and is full of enthusiasm for life. Like many young dogs, he's still learning how to manage his excitement and emotions, so he's looking for a family who will enjoy continuing his training and helping him grow into the brilliant companion he's destined to be. Hugo would thrive in a calm to moderately active home where he can enjoy a consistent routine and plenty of time with his favourite humans. He currently lives with older children and is gentle and respectful with them, so he could happily live with sensible secondary school-aged children or in an adult-only home. Because he gets so excited when greeting people, he can be a little bouncy and vocal, so a home without very young children would suit him best. A quieter household with fewer visitors, especially while he's settling in, will help Hugo feel relaxed and prevent him from becoming overwhelmed. Hugo is a clever boy who is eager to learn. He's already making progress with his training and is looking for adopters who will continue building his confidence, loose-lead walking, calm greetings, and focus using positive, reward-based methods. Hugo will need to be the only dog in his new home. He hasn't had many positive social experiences with other dogs and can become overexcited and frustrated when he sees them. With patient, ongoing training, he has every opportunity to continue improving his dog skills while enjoying life as the centre of attention at home.
