Mavis to mała dachszund z krzyówką około pięciu lat. Dobre z kotami. Potrzebuje pewnego psa w domu. Tylko dla dorosłych. Cudem tego małego dziecka przetrwało ponad dwa lata w publicznym schronisku w Botosani we Rumunii. Przeżyła, przyklejając się do większego psa i pozostając pod jego ochroną. Zabrała tę nawyk do Wielkiej Brytanii i ma psa w opiekunkiem, którego śledzi bez przerwy. Szczera mówiąc, ona jest tak mała, a on taki nieświadomy, że nawet nie myślimy, że zauważa swoją stałą ciasną chwytanie, ponieważ wyraźnie ją ignoruje ..... mielibyśmy ochotę, by znalazła dom z psem, niezależnie od wielkości, który byłby bardziej uprzejmy do jej oddania! Mavis obawia się ludzi, dopóki ich dobrze nie zna. Musi być sparowana z pewnym psem, którego może obserwować i uczyć się od niego relacji między psem a człowiekiem. Mavis is a dinky little dachshund cross aged around five years old. Fine with cats. Needs a confident resident dog. Adult only home. Somehow this small girl survived two years or more in the Botosani public shelter in Romania. She survived by latching onto a bigger dog and remaining in their protection. She has brought that habit to the UK with her and has a dog in her foster home that she shadows at all times. To be honest she’s so small and he’s so oblivious we don’t even think he notices his constant little cling on because he blatantly ignores her….. we’d love her to find a home with a dog if any size that’s a bit more receptive to her devotion! Mavis is understandably afraid of humans until she knows them super well. She needs to be paired up with a confident dog that she can watch and learn from regarding dog/human relationships. She’s not going to want you to touch her when you come and meet her and you may have to take a few weeks to earn that privilege whilst she is convinced that you’re not going to hurt her. She needs an adult home environment with an adopter who will love her and understand her fears… with no time limits on how long it takes to befriend her. Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Terms & Conditions When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
