Mavis è un piccolo incrocio di dachshund di circa cinque anni. Adatta ai gatti. Ha bisogno di un cane residente sicuro. Solo casa con adulti. Per qualche motivo questa piccola ragazza ha sopravvissuto due anni o più nel rifugio pubblico di Botosani in Romania. È sopravvissuta aggrappandosi a un cane più grande e rimanendo al suo riparo. Ha portato questa abitudine nel Regno Unito e ha un cane nella sua famiglia di accoglienza che segue costantemente. Onestamente, è così piccola e lui è così indifferente che non crediamo nemmeno che noti la sua costante piccola dipendenza perché ignora apertamente lei..... vorremmo che trovasse una casa con un cane di qualsiasi dimensione che sia un po' più disponibile ad accettare la sua devozione! Mavis ha paura degli umani fino a quando non li conosce molto bene. Ha bisogno di essere accoppiata con un cane sicuro che possa osservare e imparare da lui riguardo alle relazioni tra cani e umani. Non vorrà che tu la tocchi quando ti incontrerai con lei e potrai dover prendere alcune settimane per guadagnare quel privilegio mentre è convinta che non la ferirai. Ha bisogno di un ambiente domestico con un adottante che la ami e capisca le sue paure... senza limiti di tempo su quanto tempo ci vuole per diventare amici. Non può vivere come unico cane in casa, è adatta ai gatti. Mavis è stata accolta da Norwich Norfolk. Se sei interessato, invia un messaggio o chiama tra le 9:00 e le 17:00 dal lunedì al venerdì o tra le 9:00 e le 16:00 il sabato. Le quote di adozione sono: Cuccioli già castrati e tutti i cani adulti: £430. Cuccioli non castrati con contratti di sterilizzazione: £530 (riceverai un rimborso di £100 una volta che ci invierai la prova della sterilizzazione). Cani anziani (10+ anni): £150–£250 (in base all'età e alle esigenze individuali). Condizioni generali per l'adozione Quando adotti un cane di Safe Rescue, DEVI usare una guinzaglio a scivolo. Questo terrà il tuo cane al sicuro: il tuo nuovo cane sarà nervoso e non si fiderebbe di te, e non saprai quali situazioni potrebbero preoccuparlo. Se il tuo cane si spaventa, allora il guinzaglio a scivolo è l'unica via per impedirgli di scappare (molti cani possono scappare da collari e/o pettorine). Ci vorranno ALMENO 3-6 mesi per permettere al tuo cane di ambientarsi e per conoscere pienamente il cane (più a lungo per i cani ansiosi). Il guinzaglio a scivolo deve essere SEMPRE utilizzato durante questo periodo di ambientamento. Anche dopo che il cane si è ambientato, è più sicuro usare il guinzaglio a scivolo nelle situazioni in cui il cane potrebbe spaventarsi (ad esempio visitando luoghi nuovi, intorno a persone sconosciute, dal veterinario), e in situazioni dove potrebbero verificarsi stimoli inaspettati (ad esempio durante la notte del fuoco d'artificio). I cani ansiosi potrebbero sempre dover indossare un guinzaglio a scivolo come misura di sicurezza aggiuntiva. Il guinzaglio a scivolo è un dispositivo di sicurezza e mai utilizzato come strumento di addestramento. Applicare pressione sul collo del cane con il guinzaglio è dannoso. Se il tuo cane tira il guinzaglio, possiamo consigliarti metodi di addestramento che evitino danni. Mavis is a dinky little dachshund cross aged around five years old. Fine with cats. Needs a confident resident dog. Adult only home. Somehow this small girl survived two years or more in the Botosani public shelter in Romania. She survived by latching onto a bigger dog and remaining in their protection. She has brought that habit to the UK with her and has a dog in her foster home that she shadows at all times. To be honest she’s so small and he’s so oblivious we don’t even think he notices his constant little cling on because he blatantly ignores her….. we’d love her to find a home with a dog if any size that’s a bit more receptive to her devotion! Mavis is understandably afraid of humans until she knows them super well. She needs to be paired up with a confident dog that she can watch and learn from regarding dog/human relationships. She’s not going to want you to touch her when you come and meet her and you may have to take a few weeks to earn that privilege whilst she is convinced that you’re not going to hurt her. She needs an adult home environment with an adopter who will love her and understand her fears… with no time limits on how long it takes to befriend her. Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Terms & Conditions When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
