Nuta

Female · Young · 3 years

Since the moment Nuta crossed the threshold of the animal shelter, we have been wondering what story lies behind this poor female dog? What did those terrified eyes see, and what secret does our new charge hide? We cannot guess her past, but the female dog had an unregistered microchip and seemed to have had contact with a human before, although she has forgotten everything and the years of homelessness and uncertainty have taught her to avoid us rather than run into our arms. Nuta was wandering around the plots of ROD in Warsaw - basically staying in one place, being fed so often and in such quantities by the plot gardeners that in the final phase of her wandering, she more resembled a Silesian dumpling than a dog and barely could move. Currently, we are fighting to gradually reduce her weight, but it is not the easiest task when Nuta is scared and tends to hide rather than use the run. Fortunately, after a month of stay, her mood has improved slightly - mainly thanks to a canine companion, with whom she seems to feel better. Sometimes we even have the impression that she dares to gently bark at our sight, but then immediately gets scared and again avoids our gaze. Clearly, she needs more time to get used to the new situation. From our experience, we know that such poor and withdrawn dogs have a very hard time in the animal shelter - even the smallest progress is paid for with weeks of suffering in silence and loneliness, and the best results, even miracles, happen in homes after adoption. That is why we are asking very much for a home for this poor, sad and beaten-up dog. At this stage, we are looking for a home with a garden and a kind, calm dog who will give Nutce courage.

Mimo to do idealnej sylwetki jeszcze długa droga, więc jej nowy opiekun powinien być zdeterminowany w kwestii dalszej diety, dbania o kondycję suni i odpowiednią dawkę ruchu. About Nuta

What life with Nuta looks like

Nuta is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nuta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nuta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nuta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nuta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nuta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nuta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nuta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
