35 people went for a walk with 23 dogs. Not just with their own dogs, no, our shelter dogs were also there. Only two had to stay in the shelter due to age and health reasons. All the others went with them. Is that possible? Peacefully and harmoniously? It is! In April, our employee Carmen came up with the idea that we could organize a social walk in our shelter as well. She immediately took charge of the organization and preparation, and on 23.05.2026, it finally happened: the meeting point was 9:30 am at the shelter, and our yard gradually filled with people and their dogs. However, some of our walkers and people interested in walking also came to the shelter. Delicious cakes were brought along and drinks were provided - after all, there was to be a cozy get-together on the shelter grounds after the walk. After a brief welcome and briefing of the visitors, it was off. While people with dogs waited in front of the shelter, each shelter dog quickly found a walker. Together they set off through fields to a small forest and back to the shelter. A round that our walkers already knew and on this sunny day we found some shade in the forest at least. All the people were in the best of spirits, the dogs were balanced and at the end happy and exhausted. 35 Menschen gehen mit 23 Hunden spazieren. Nicht nur mit ihren Privathunden, nein, auch unsere Tierheimhunde waren dabei. Nur zwei mussten alters- und gesundheitsbedingt im Tierheim bleiben. Alle anderen liefen mit. Geht das? Friedlich und harmonisch? Es geht!Schon im April kam unserer Mitarbeiterin Carmen mit der Idee, man könnte doch auch in unserem Tierheim einen Social Walk organisieren. Die Organisation und Vorbereitung nahm sie gleich in die Hand und am 23.05.2026 war es schließlich soweit: Treffpunkt war 9:30 Uhr im Tierheim und so nach und nach füllte sich unser Hof mit Menschen und ihren Hunden. Doch auch ein Teil unserer Gassigänger und am Gassigehen interessierte Menschen kamen ins Tierheim. Leckere Kuchen wurden mitgebracht und für Getränke war gesorgt – schließlich sollte es nach dem gemeinsamen Spaziergang noch ein gemütliches Zusammensitzen auf dem Tierheimgelände geben. Nach einer kurzen Begrüßung und Einweisung der Besucher ging es auch schon los. Während Leute mit Hunden vor dem Tierheim warteten, fand schnell jeder Tierheimhund einen Gassigänger. Gemeinsam ging es dann los durch Felder zu einem kleinen Wald und wieder zurück zum Tierheim. Eine Runde, die unsere Gassigänger bereits kennen und auf der wir an diesem sonnigen Tag zumindest im Wald etwas Schatten fanden. Alle Menschen waren bester Stimmung, die Hunde ausgeglichen und am Schluss glücklich und ausgepowert. Vielen Dank, Carmen, für die Idee und die Organisation und allen Helfern und Teilnehmern für einen wunderschönen Tag.
