adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Abby stays in Romania.. Her story: Abby is the only girl in the 6-puppy litter from Mother Ramea. Quasi the chicken in the coop. Her brothers Ivar, Meddox, Fionn, Racoon, and Blacky are also looking for a cozy, loving home. The 6 siblings were born together with their mom Ramea in a very remote area in a mountain forest near Bistrita. The brave dog mom raised the little ones alone. Everything went well until she was severely injured by a wild boar. She could no longer hunt for food, and the little ones had to fend for themselves. The hungry puppies survived by eating sheep droppings and somehow made it. In this condition, the animal rescuer Tina found the severely injured dog mom with her little family. She managed to catch the little wild ones after a few days and bring them to safety. Ramea could only be saved a few days later. Now the family is reunited, and all 7 dogs are searching for their very own home. Since the little gang, since their mother was severely injured, was absolutely unprotected and on their own, 5 of them are still true experts at hiding. Currently, they need a little coaxing to come out of their shells, until they thaw and can enjoy their puppyhood without being on guard. But they are still young and will quickly learn that they no longer need to be on guard against wild animals or other dangers. Abby is otherwise a typical playful puppy girl, friendly, curious, and get-along with all the dogs. We wish for her a loving, empathetic home where she can grow into a self-assured, happy female dog. An ideal home would be a safe only-dog home that could ease her transition into the human world.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Abby bleibt in Rumänien..

About Abby

What life with Abby looks like

Abby is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Abby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Abby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Abby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Abby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Abby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Abby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Abby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
