Adopt Solar

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Meet Solar, a sweet and gentle boy who is hoping to find his special forever home where he can enjoy all the love, adventures and sofa cuddles he deserves. Solar is a very sociable boy and generally enjoys meeting both people and other dogs. He loves to play and will happily walking alongside calmer dogs. He could live with or without another dog, although a similarly sized, playful canine companion may be the best match for his play style. If Solar were to be the only dog in the home, regular opportunities to walk with suitable canine friends would be lovely for him. Although Solar is generally a confident and easy-going boy, he can be a little unsure in some situations and would benefit from a family who can give him gentle encouragement while he continues to build his confidence. He is very food motivated, so tasty treats are a great way to help him learn and explore new experiences. Solar would suit a calm home with a predictable routine where he can enjoy a good balance of relaxing on the sofa and getting out for adventures. He would enjoy a mixture of walks, sniffing, play and training. Solar could live with children aged 6 years and over. He is calm and tolerant around people, although his typical Lurcher play style can involve sudden bursts of movement, so this should be considered around younger or less mobile family members. If you're looking for a sweet, sociable companion who would love to share both your sofa and your adventures, Solar could be the boy for you.Apply to adopt Published: 10th September, 2026 Author: Katrina Hyde Hovis is Fox Hound looking for his forever home. About Adopt Solar

What life with Adopt Solar looks like

Adopt Solar is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Solar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Solar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Solar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Solar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Solar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Solar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Solar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
