How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Susie?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Susie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Adopt Susie if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Adopt Susie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Adopt Susie isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Susie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Adopt Susie

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Say hello to Susie, a sweet little Pomeranian who is looking for a calm and understanding home where she can take her time to settle. Susie can be quite worried in new or stressful situations so can take a little time for her personality to shine through. Once she knows and trusts you, she is affectionate and enjoys being close to her favourite people. We expect she will become much more confident once she has the time and space to settle into a home of her own. Susie enjoys gentle sniffy walks and naturally checks in with her handler. She can be startled by noises, movement and busy environments, so her new family will need to help her build confidence gradually and avoid overwhelming her. She is looking for an adult-only home with an experienced family who understands small, sensitive dogs and is confident reading their body language. Susie may be cautious with visitors and changes to her routine, so she will benefit from a quiet home, predictable routine and gentle introductions to new people. Susie would ideally be the only dog in the home, although she could potentially live with a calm, respectful dog following careful introductions. She may also be able to live with other animals following suitable introductions. Susie has previously found some handling challenging, so her new family will need to build trust and allow her to communicate when she needs space. Grooming will also need to be introduced gently, as she can be sensitive around her paws and will need regular coat care. Susie is likely to become a very loving little companion once she feels safe and settled. She is a sensitive girl who will need patience, understanding and plenty of encouragement, but for the right home, watching her confidence grow will be incredibly rewarding. About Adopt Susie

What life with Adopt Susie looks like

Adopt Susie is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.
