Ik ben Reiki, een lieve en actieve poes met van die opvallende gevouwen oortjes. Daardoor weten we dat er in ieder geval Scottish Fold in mijn familie zit. Mijn leven begon helaas niet zo zorgeloos: ik liep samen met mijn kittens buiten rond en ben vermoedelijk achtergelaten. Gelukkig ben ik uiteindelijk bij het dierenasiel terechtgekomen, waar goed voor mij wordt gezorgd. Sinds begin 2026 gelden er in Nederland strengere regels voor katten zoals ik. Katten met gevouwen oren mogen niet meer zomaar worden gehouden en er mag niet meer met ons worden gefokt. Dat heeft een belangrijke reden. De gevouwen oren worden veroorzaakt door een erfelijke afwijking van het kraakbeen en de botten. Deze aandoening heet osteochondrodysplasie. Omdat ik via een dierenasiel word herplaatst, mag ik gelukkig wél op zoek naar een nieuw thuis. Mijn toekomstige baasje moet alleen goed weten wat mijn aandoening betekent en bereid zijn om mijn gezondheid mijn hele leven goed in de gaten te houden. Bij mij zijn op dit moment al wat veranderingen aan mijn achterpootjes zichtbaar. Gelukkig heb ik daar nu geen merkbare pijn van. Ik ren, speel en spring en geniet volop van alles om mij heen. Hoe snel mijn aandoening zich in de toekomst zal ontwikkelen, kunnen we helaas niet precies voorspellen. Het is wel waarschijnlijk dat mijn gewrichten mij op termijn meer last gaan geven. Daarom zoek ik iemand die ervoor zorgt dat ik regelmatig door een dierenarts word gecontroleerd. Minimaal één keer per jaar is verstandig, en wanneer mijn manier van lopen, springen of bewegen verandert natuurlijk eerder. Het advies is om regelmatig röntgenfoto’s te laten maken, zodat mijn botten en gewrichten goed in de gaten kunnen worden gehouden. Als ik later pijnklachten ontwikkel, kan pijnstilling nodig zijn om ervoor te zorgen dat ik comfortabel en met een goede kwaliteit van leven kan blijven genieten. Dat klinkt misschien als een hele gebruiksaanwijzing, maar ik ben natuurlijk vooral gewoon Reiki. Ik ben ontzettend lief, nieuwsgierig en actief. Ik kom graag bij je om knuffels te halen en als ik eenmaal mijn plekje bij je heb gevonden, kruip ik ook met veel plezier lekker op schoot. Ik zoek dus iemand die niet alleen valt voor mijn bijzondere oortjes, maar vooral voor wie ik ben én die bereid is om samen met mij goed voor mijn toekomst te zorgen.
