Adopt Adozioni e nuove opportunità per i cani ucraini

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Returning to the topic of dogs and war in Ukraine with some good news from the National League for the Defense of Dogs. In May, the association managed to save thirty dogs housed at the dog shelter in Borodyanka, a city that had been isolated due to the conflict, where the staff had not been able to access the area for weeks to provide food and water to the animals. LNDC activated to offer help, organizing the rescue and transfer to Italy of some of the surviving dogs, finally released by the volunteers of the Ukrainian association Banda, which collaborated with Italian volunteers. There were many difficulties, both logistical and bureaucratic, but in the end the dogs managed to reach the Valle Grande facility in Rome by mid-May. There they were helped to regain their strength, cared for and supported by LNDC activists, and now it is finally time to look for a new home ready to welcome them. This is handled by the Ostia section of the National League for the Defense of Dogs: it is already possible to contact the association and declare your availability for adoption (as we from Apaca say, going to the dog shelter, not carrying out the procedure via internet). The dogs from Borodyanka will need special attention, as all dogs coming from shelters and kennels do, each with a sad story behind them, in this case worsened by suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a war. Which still unfortunately shows no end. Hundreds of Ukrainian volunteers continue to protect and feed the dogs remaining in their country - risking their lives - as told in a short but moving video by another Italian association supporting Ukraine, Save the Dogs. Some of the dogs involved in this story were stray, unattended and solitary, others had been abandoned or lost, others had lived for a long time in the dog shelter. As we mentioned a few lines above, their misfortunes unite them with other homeless dogs scattered around Italy and the world. For all of them, we from Apaca hope they can soon find what LNDC defines as "a new opportunity for happiness." No other words would be able to describe more touching and accurately what these lonely dogs need - a new opportunity, a new happiness.

About Adozioni e nuove opportunità per i cani ucraini

What life with Adozioni e nuove opportunità per i cani ucraini looks like

Adozioni e nuove opportunità per i cani ucraini is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Associazione Onlus Apaca in Italy.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

What happens if Adozioni e nuove opportunità per i cani ucraini isn't the right fit?

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
