Aguiles

German Shepherd · Male · Senior · 13 years

Senior Aguiles can finally take a breath on foster care - now he just needs his permanent home. A new chapter has begun for Aguiles: The gentle senior moved together with another dog to a foster home in Germany and finally left the animal shelter behind. This step is of immeasurable value, especially for an older dog. After the stressful time in the animal shelter with lack of rest, insufficient comfort and constant stress, Aguiles can now settle in, take a deep breath and experience what it feels like to live in safety with stable contact persons. Previously, every day showed what a wonderful companion is in him: He is friendly towards people, gets along well with other dogs and also gets along well with cats. He enjoys walks, sniffs curiously through his surroundings and shows a beautiful, calm joy of life. Aguiles is a senior who simply wants to be there. He no longer needs big adventures, but above all closeness, security and a daily routine in which he can accompany his humans. A warm place, loving attention and regular gentle exercise - this is actually all that this kind-hearted dog wishes for. Taking a little care of his figure will certainly do him good, but this can be lovingly accompanied through relaxed walks and a regular routine. Even though the move to foster care is a great gain for him, it naturally cannot replace a permanent home. Especially older dogs deserve to spend their last years not in transitional situations, but in real security. For Aguiles, we wish people who consciously take responsibility and give a senior the time to settle in calmly. Older dogs often bring a special gentleness and gratitude. At the same time, they can also have needs due to their age that one should be prepared for. Whoever takes Aguiles into their home gives him exactly what he deserves so much: a loving, safe place for his golden years - and gains a loyal, quiet companion by his side. About Aguiles

What life with Aguiles looks like

Aguiles is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aguiles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aguiles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aguiles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aguiles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aguiles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aguiles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aguiles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
