Adopt Aida Galga

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

(Can have video) UPDATE April 2026: If fear is your constant companion... Aida we met very insecure and fearful towards strangers. Calmness and patience have led her to take the delicious sausage from the palm of your hand, if you otherwise completely ignore her. She is significantly more relaxed with the Spanish team, which also took time and patience. Therefore, Aida really needs people with greyhound experience who also know what to expect when a dog like Aida joins a family that also has a secure, fear-free and carefree only dog, which Aida can orientate herself towards. People who work with Aida on her fears, do not leave her trapped in them, so that Aida can gradually shed her uncertainties and develop trust in her humans. That she wants to, she shows very clearly, it's just that she lacks support. Aida will be rehomed exclusively in a rural area, with a securely fenced garden and to another dog. Aida was surrendered, like many dogs at the end of the hunting season, because there was no longer any use for her. The delicate female dog is still somewhat overwhelmed, does not know the new environment and is not yet able to form real trust. We think she also needs a lot of time to reorient herself, as she doesn't know much yet. On the video you can clearly see that she gets into a panic for a moment when she can't assess what is expected of her. In this case, she moves backwards, which requires particularly careful safety measures. Aida shows herself to be very compatible with other animals. Since she is not yet that long in the shelter, we will give her time and then create an update again when she has settled in a bit. Aida needs time, patience and experienced people, as well as at least a nice other animal and a rural home with a garden. Born 20.06.2022, size approx. 65 cm, weight approx. 19.8 kg, character: insecure, cautious, compatible with other animals, in the animal shelter since January 2026. Aida travels microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, tested for all Mediterranean diseases, also a blood test of the organ values will be created before travel arrangements. Aida will be rehomed with a safety harness, a GPS tracker is mandatory. About Aida Galga

What life with Aida Galga looks like

Aida Galga is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at TS Fellwechsel e.V. in Varel /nur Vereinssitz, kein Tierheim vor Ort.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aida Galga, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aida Galga?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TS Fellwechsel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aida Galga on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aida Galga if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TS Fellwechsel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aida Galga already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aida Galga isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TS Fellwechsel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aida Galga and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
