Adopt Lasse Galgo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

(Can be used with video) Update May 2024: 10 months at the animal shelter – for Lasse, 10 months is too long. Restless and nervous, constantly searching for variety, he can't settle down and is therefore still far too thin. Lasse is a complex dog personality, not a typical Galgo. Although he is initially somewhat submissive towards people, he can sometimes bite in situations that he does not like, such as tick treatment, ear examination and the like. It is therefore important to build mutual trust with Lasse and to use a muzzle in critical situations before anything happens and trust on both sides is shaken. But above all, Lasse is a big, cuddly, mischievous trickster, always full of ideas and mischief – constantly looking for variety and fun in the daily life at the animal shelter. Lasse needs people who enjoy having a big joker around, who brings variety and humor into their lives, but also leads Lasse confidently, consistently and lovingly so that he can learn to trust, lose his skepticism and develop into a relaxed companion who brings a lot of joyful commotion into the lives of his humans. Lasse has a striking appearance, beautifully built with eyes that captivate you. Lasse was caught with a live trap, as he was seen wandering multiple times. Completely starved, he was quickly caught. At the animal shelter, he shows good compatibility with other animals, he lives there with Daniela. In his new home, he should preferably have a devoted four-legged partner, ideally a female dog, as Lasse sometimes shows jealousy over food. However, this is well manageable even at the animal shelter, one just needs to know how. Lasse greets humans very kindly, yet is mistrustful at the same time, if someone wants something from him. Manipulation should be done carefully and thoughtfully. If he feels pressured, he panics and tries to escape the situation by any means. We assume that Lasse has had bad experiences in this regard. The tick prevention was difficult until he realized that nothing hurt him. A stable basis of trust must be created here, and at the vet, it is certainly necessary to work with a muzzle. Lasse is not a novice dog, but a male dog in his prime, who has learned to stand up for himself. He is still new at the animal shelter, and we will see how he develops once he gets to know the people there better. However, his humans should be consistent and loving, not be easily influenced, and meet Lasse with confidence, creating a basis of trust that ultimately becomes stable and safe for the male dog. Born in 2020, size approx. 68 cm, weight approx. 21 kg, at the animal shelter since July 2023. Lasse is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, tested for all Mediterranean diseases, and a blood test of the organ values is also created before arrival. Lasse is handed over with a safety harness. About Lasse Galgo

What life with Lasse Galgo looks like

Lasse Galgo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at TS Fellwechsel e.V. in Varel /nur Vereinssitz, kein Tierheim vor Ort.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lasse Galgo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lasse Galgo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TS Fellwechsel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lasse Galgo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lasse Galgo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TS Fellwechsel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lasse Galgo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lasse Galgo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TS Fellwechsel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lasse Galgo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
