Aiden

Male Β· Young Β· 1 year

Aiden is an active and intelligent German Shepherd who's looking for a loving family with patience and enthusiasm for training. He is highly motivated by food and loves to learn through scent games, puzzles and play. He is a goofball and loves to zoom around and interact with his handlers. He is such a loving soul, and his world is centred around his people! Aiden would make an amazing addition to his adopter's life! Meet Aiden, a 1.5-year-old German Shepherd. Aiden is looking for active owners who will help Aiden channel his energy into scent games and training. He is looking for a family who are confident and comfortable around large dogs. He knows lots of tricks and, being a clever working breed, he needs a home that has time to continue his ongoing training with calm introductions to dogs on lead and managing his excitable behaviour. Aiden has come from a very unsettled background, so he would benefit from adopters who can help him develop more life skills and readjust to living in a home. He can be worried by lots of things going on, so he would love a quieter household that is adult-only due to his grabbing behaviours. He does have the potential to live with another well-matched dog, who's a good role model, pending meets at the centre, but would be more than happy to be the only dog.

About Aiden

What life with Aiden looks like

Aiden is a large young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Harefield in Harefield.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aiden, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aiden?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Harefield handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aiden on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aiden if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Harefield will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Aiden already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aiden isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Harefield early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aiden and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
