Monty

Greyhound · Male · Young · 1 year

Living with dogs: I may be able to live with a dog Living with cats: I cannot live with cats Living with small animals: I cannot live with small animals Looking for: A home with someone around for most of the time Ideal home location: I need a home with an enclosed garden Monty is a gorgeous 12-month-old Greyhound x Saluki with a huge heart, plenty of puppy mischief and, quite literally, a LOT of bounce! At just a year old, Monty is very much still a puppy. He is a fun-loving, energetic boy who loves people, dogs, food, enrichment, chasing toys and having a good time! His puppy energy often comes in big bursts of zoomies and high-energy play, followed by a very satisfying switch into calm mode. He's learning that he doesn't always need to be quite so busy and that it's okay to relax and trust the people around him. When meeting people or experiencing something new, Monty can be very excited and confident in his approach. However, underneath that bouncy exterior is a softer, more sensitive boy who can actually be a little timid. He'll need a family who can see beyond the excitement and give him the patience, reassurance and consistency he needs to grow in confidence and mature into adulthood. Monty loves company and is happiest when he has someone around for most of the day. He does experience some separation anxiety, although this is improving, and his new family will need to be prepared to continue supporting him with this gently and at his own pace. He is a clever boy who absolutely loves food and enrichment, making him very motivated when it comes to training. Positive reinforcement, plenty of enrichment and opportunities to safely channel his natural behaviours will help him flourish. His new family will need to continue working on his training and help him learn how to manage all that youthful enthusiasm. Monty can live with other dogs and would love to have a canine companion in his new home. However, as a Greyhound x Saluki, he has a high prey drive and cannot live with cats, small dogs or other small animals. He is also looking for a home without young children. Monty is looking for an active, patient and understanding family who can give him the exercise, enrichment, training, reassurance and love he needs. Most importantly, he needs people who are willing to give him time to mature and learn, while also allowing him to enjoy being the playful young dog that he is. He really is a lovely, affectionate boy with so much potential. If you're looking for a young dog with a huge heart, a playful personality and plenty of bounce, Monty could be the boy for you! Monty is waiting for his forever home - could that be with you? If you think so please follow the link below to apply for him via our online application form.

About Monty

What life with Monty looks like

Monty is a large young adult greyhound dog waiting at RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Worcester & Mid-Worcestershire Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
