Adopt Akira

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Akira is a spayed mixed-breed dog born in May 2024, who was brought to the animal shelter as a puppy along with her seven siblings by the owner of the mother dog. She is now ready for adoption and is eagerly waiting for a loving home. Akira is a wonderful, very affectionate dog who actively seeks the company of her humans and enjoys every caress to the fullest. She is extremely people-oriented and loves being part of daily life. Whether it's cozy cuddle sessions on the sofa or joyful time together in the garden, Akira is happiest when she can be there. At the same time, Akira is a very energetic and active dog. Any kind of activity brings her great joy. She loves long walks, exciting trips into nature, and new experiences. She is especially enthusiastic about water - splashing around or just standing with her paws in the small dog pool are among her greatest passions. She also likes toys and is always motivated and attentive for a treat. Akira gets along very well with other dogs. She is social, playful, and enjoys playing and roughhousing together. We do not know her behavior towards cats and other animals. For Akira, we are looking for an adventurous family or individual with plenty of time who enjoys discovering the world together with her. Long walks, varied activities, and shared adventures should be a given. Akira needs people who share her energy and enthusiasm and can provide her with both physical and mental stimulation. The dog's shoulder height is 37 cm and she weighs 10 kg.

About Akira

What life with Akira looks like

Akira is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Akira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Akira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Akira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Akira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Akira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Akira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Akira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
