AKSAMITKA

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Aksamitka is a tiny, delicate girl who was born in 2023, making her around 3 years old. She is in the most beautiful age, weighing only 7.8 kg - a fragile, miniature crumb that can fit in your arms and in every heart. Aksamitka had already won the lottery once. She was adopted, was supposed to have a wonderful home and be a loved member of the family... Unfortunately, the brutal reality turned out to be completely different. Aksamitka escaped from her new home, and the "owners" did absolutely nothing to find her... Abandoned, betrayed and left to her own devices, she wandered in terror until she was fortunately returned to our shelter. Currently, Aksamitka is absolutely terrified and deeply hurt. It's no wonder - first the loss of everything she knew, then the escape, the wandering, and finally the return to the shelter's cage without any explanation from the people she trusted. Despite the immense stress and enormous fear, Aksamitka has not a grain of aggression. She shrinks into herself, her little body trembles, and in her beautiful, sad eyes, you can see a silent plea for rescue and a sense of security. Our volunteers are doing everything to restore her faith in humans, but the shelter's cage is the worst place to heal a broken heart. This delicate little dog urgently needs a home that will finally not let her down! Why does hurt Aksamitka need you? Compact crumb (double caution): Weighing just under 8 kg, Aksamitka is the perfect little dog for an apartment. In a new home, however, she will require special protection (anti-escape harness, double attachment) until she feels fully safe and understands that this is her home forever. Heart waiting to be rebuilt: Aksamitka needs time, peace and understanding. However, once she understands that she is safe and that her new caregiver will never abandon her, you will gain loyalty and love that cannot be bought for any money. Clean slate and no aggression: Despite the traumatic experiences, the little dog is extremely gentle, modest and quiet. She is looking for a corner where she can mature at her own pace to trust a human hand again. We are looking for a home of the highest standard for Aksamitka - responsible, patient, empathy and a heart full of love. Such a home does not abandon when difficulties arise, but cares for the safety and well-being of its friend for good and for bad. Give this terrified crumb a real home and you will change her fate forever

Historia Aksamitki to jedna z nich. Aksamitka uciekła z nowego domu, a „właściciele” nie zrobili absolutnie nic, by ją odnaleźć... Kurczy się w sobie, jej malutkie ciałko drży, a w jej pięknych, smutnych oczach widać ciche błaganie o ratunek i poczucie bezpieczeństwa. Kompaktowa kruszynka (podwójna ostrożność): Ważąc niespełna 8 kg, Aksamitka to idealny piesek do mieszkania. Szuka kącika, w którym w swoim własnym tempie dojrzeje do ponownego zaufania ludzkiej dłoni.

About AKSAMITKA

What life with AKSAMITKA looks like

AKSAMITKA is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting AKSAMITKA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about AKSAMITKA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw AKSAMITKA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt AKSAMITKA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is AKSAMITKA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if AKSAMITKA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know AKSAMITKA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
