Monte DużY

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Monte, adopted as a puppy, returned to the animal shelter after almost 5 years. A great dog tragedy. Monte doesn't cope with the kennel. He returned to us almost a month ago, and has been just as stressed and confused all this time. He doesn't understand why his people haven't come back, why he's not in his home, but in this noisy animal shelter, in a concrete box... Is it his fault that he's back here? No, as always with returns. The owners' life situation changed, along with their place of residence where there was no permission for a dog. Yes, we agree with you that all situations can be solved if you want - but we weren't the ones making the decisions, it was the owners. Now let's all focus on finding this poor guy a home. Monte is a very nice dog, gentle as a lamb, loves everyone, although in the current situation he is absolutely lost and stressed. In general, he walks well on a leash and responds to his name. No problems with other animals. His only problem is that he isn't trained to be alone at home - throughout his life, during the owners' absence, he was left in the yard (apart from being a couch potato). Of course, like any dog, he can still learn to be alone, but it will require at least some work, which is lacking now... He is about 4-5 years old, a large dog reaching the knee - currently weighs 31.5 kg, but needs to lose a lot... Likes the company of other dogs, apparently also accepts cats. Children shouldn't be a problem for this guy. Monte is at the animal shelter in Choszczno. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. If someone wants to help him other than adoption - light food would be appreciated. For adoption, please contact the volunteer: 733 Zuza. If you want to help this dog, but can't adopt - we invite you for walks! From Tuesday to Sunday, in the hours. polski English Deutsch Monte Adoptowany jako szczeniak, zwrócony do schroniska po prawie 5 latach. Ogromna psia tragedia. About Monte DużY

What life with Monte DużY looks like

Monte DużY is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monte DużY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monte DużY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monte DużY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monte DużY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monte DużY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monte DużY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monte DużY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
