Alaric

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Alaric and his siblings did not have an easy start in life. Their mother Irma was found completely emaciated and heavily pregnant - her legs and snout were bound together. Shortly after their rescue, she gave birth to twelve puppies. Unfortunately, two of them died shortly after. Irma was so weakened by her severe malnutrition that she could not produce enough milk for her babies. Therefore, Dorel took on the difficult task of raising the ten surviving puppies by hand. With much care and countless feedings, the little ones made it and are now gradually discovering the world. Alaric is a little sunshine. He approaches people friendly and open-minded and is one of the puppies who particularly enjoys human attention. He really likes petting - if a hand finds him to scratch him, Alaric is happy to be in the middle of it. Alaric is also a real eye-catcher. His gray fur with the bright accents makes him look quite special. His face is what you don't forget so quickly: just insanely cute! In addition, his ears, which hang down to the side of his head, give him a very special, incredibly charming expression. Alaric is a friendly, open-minded puppy who is curious about his surroundings and likes to be in contact with people. He brings the cheerful and carefree nature that one wishes for a young dog. Due to the appearance of his mother Irma, we cannot rule out that herding dog genes are also in him. Of course, this is not certain. Especially in puppyhood, it is not predictable whether and how strong such characteristics will appear later. Herding dogs can be very loyal and closely attached to their people. At the same time, they are often quiet, independent and attentive and like to make decisions on their own. Depending on the degree of expression, watchfulness, territorial behavior or a certain reserve towards strangers may also be part of it. For Alaric, this means: His future people should be willing to accompany him lovingly and patiently and give him clear, fair guidance. Whether corresponding characteristics will actually develop in him remains to be seen. Alaric is looking for people who have just as much joy in a friendly, cuddly and curious young dog as he has in his people. A home where he can belong, discover the world and of course enjoy lots of petting. We are pretty sure: With these cute ears and his open nature, Alaric will quickly wrap his people around his paw. After a positive preliminary check and against a deposit, Alaric can travel to his new home chipped, vaccinated, dewormed and dewormed with an EU pet passport. Thank you to Anna-Lena L.! You gave Alaric his name and thus an identity. Status: 03.10.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Anna-Lena L.! Stand: 03.10.2026

About Alaric

What life with Alaric looks like

Alaric is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alaric, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alaric?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alaric on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alaric if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alaric already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alaric isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alaric and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
