Alegria

Podenco · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Alegria, a young German Shephard girl, arrived to us after being found on the side of the street without a microchip. She was in quite a good condition so she must have come from some sort of a home, where she was not wanted anymore. Alegria is beautiful and extremely intelligent, just what you would expect from a young German Shephard puppy. She is just the right amount of spicy and active, has her own preferences and opinion, but at the same time loves to work with a human and learns at lightning speed. Once her initial energy from being a long time in the kennel, is released by running in the dog park, she quickly looks for a connection with the human, even while other dogs are sniffing around. She is also very food-motivated, so that makes it even easier to work with her. She loves to be together with her canine friends, and does her best to keep up with the running speed of her two Podenco-friends that she lives together with. Alegria is very playful, and spends most of the day gently wrestling with her friends in her kennel. She can be barky from excitement at first, so this is something to keep in mind and to work with. German Shephards in general are usually vocal when younger, but that is something that an experienced dog-owner will have under control very well with positive reinforcement and boundaries. To allow her full potential show, Alegria is definitely looking for an experienced dog-owner, who is interested in hobby-level of canine work, whether it is Search & Rescue, nosework, Agility, tricks training class, obedience. She is not a sofa dog, and is looking for daily mental & physical activity. Ideally Alegria would love to join a home with 1 or more dogs already waiting for her, but in the case of the right human, she could also very well be an only dog as she is quickly concentrated on the human. In this case however, very regular canine contact must be provided for Alegria, to ensure raising a well-socialised adult. Alegria is also good with children who are not afraid of dogs, barking or jumpy energy, she is a big puppy afterall. She would love to live in a setting with exterior space and opportunity for physical exercise majority of the day. An apartment setting could only be considered when located near the nature, with very active humans. Her current shoulder height is approximately 45cm at the time of writing.

About Alegria

What life with Alegria looks like

Alegria is a medium-sized puppy podenco dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alegria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alegria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alegria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alegria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Alegria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alegria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alegria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
