Alexia

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born around 2017 Gender: female Spayed: yes Character: very friendly, calm Size: about 48 cm At the shelter since: January 2021 Hello, my name is Alexia. I have been here in the shelter for a while now. As you can see in the video, I really come out of my shell when people I know visit me. Then I am also a bit silly. However, the time here in the shelter also makes me a little resigned. How much longer do I have to wait? Will this be my home? In the other video you can see how I react when strangers want to enter my area. Then I first try to bark at them loudly, but don't worry, if that doesn't work, I just accept it. So please don't take it personally, with my people I will naturally be the nice one who enjoys being noticed. It will probably take some time until I get used to things. We will need to sniff each other first and you will have to explain your world to me. But as you can see, I am basically a very nice girl who urgently needs people to whom she can give her heart! Even though I need some time at first, I always seek contact with people. Once the ice is broken, I am as happy as a snow queen about visits and would love to play with people. I wish for a forever family where I can feel really comfortable and who understand a dog from abroad. Maybe you would like to give me the chance for a beautiful and protected life? If you are interested in Alexia, please write us an email or a message via Facebook. Alexia is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs travel vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and dewormed and have an EU passport. Furthermore, a rapid test for Mediterranean diseases is carried out before the travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Alexia has been taken over by Ranghild and Claudius L., thus ensuring a full bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: ca. 2017 geboren Geschlecht: weiblich Kastriert: ja Charakter: sehr freundlich, ruhig Größe: ca. 48 cm Im Shelter seit: Januar 2021 Hallo, mein Name ist Alexia.

About Alexia

What life with Alexia looks like

Alexia is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alexia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alexia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alexia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alexia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alexia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alexia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alexia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
